Just picked up a 2021 Gas Gas MC450F from Point View Cycles in Ohio! I am going to be documenting my build and testing different parts/products that you might be interested in along the way.

I want to give a huge shout to all my sponsors helping me out this year.

First thing first. Stock photo!

As with any new bike, it is time to tear it apart and regrease bearings. Also waiting for the first round of aftermarket parts to show up.

Please continue to check back weekly for updates.

The next few weeks will mainly just be standard stuff. Sprockets, chain, new bars, might change the color scheme a little bit, custom graphics, some carbon goodies.

Once winter breaks here in the Northeast and I can do some testing, I want to look into mapping, exhaust and possible spring conversion kit for the forks. Never been a fan of the air fork but this WP stuff may surprise me.

Quick update...

Not much to add. I am finding out that getting parts directly from most of my sponsors is pretty difficult right now. A lot of stuff is currently out of stock.

I got my Pro Taper Evo SX Bend bars on. The stock Neken bars were super low. Also the mini bar pad had to go. Not sure what Gas Gas was thinking with that.

Since the Gas Gas is considered a "budget KT/Husqvarna" they do not come stock with an hour meter. I got one in from Works Connection and mounted to the frame. I used a threaded rivet nut insert that fit a 6mm bolt since that is what the hour meter mount comes with. Worked perfect!

I will have my GUTS Racing seat cover installed here soon. I am hoping my sprockets and chain and my carbon parts from P3 get delivered by next weekend.

GUTS Racing seat cover installed. This was a must for the Gas Gas. The stock one felt super slippery and seemed like it would get torn pretty easy. I also have a GUTS complete tall seat on order. It is +18mm over stock height so I am looking forward to trying that out.

I’m curious how the +18 is for you. Bike looks great, you doing wheels?

Thanks man! Yea I am curious too. Being 6'1 I am hoping it works out well. I plan on getting a set of wheels. Definitely going to go with black rims. I am just not sure what color hubs yet.

Definitely keep us up up to date. I really enjoy seeing all the bike builds.

I just purchased an Gas Gas EX 450F and starting to build out. I put the same bars/pad as you did. Also have the same wheels on order.

Here it is with my FC450 suspension, wheels and clamps.

I opted for the ProTaper wireless hour meter (first time trying one). I also have a nickel spec bolt kit that is going on this week.

Waiting on Edge wheels, FMF exhaust, Hinson clutch cover and skid plate.

Nice! Bike looks good. What wheels are on there currently? Also no WP forks and shock?

What skid plate you going with? I am going with a P3. They have been a supporter of me for a few years. Great products!

Thanks BryanB339!

Those are FasterUSA hubs with DID STX wheels. The hubs are the burnt rust color. They have quite a few hours on them but still in good condition.

The suspension is some KYB A-Kit that I bought used off of Vital a few years back. This is the third bike I have had the suspension on. My goal is to go back to WP and get a hold of some CV’s. The KYB works really well, but the bike just handles differently with the stock WP on it (lighter, more hold up, turning, etc). I raced the bike last weekend and wanted to have it feel familiar.

I decided to get the P3 skid plate as well. Glad to hear you have been happy with P3. I think I might have ran some frame guards at some point.

Interesting handling comparison with the KYB A kit. Forks not dropping down in the stroke or triple clamp offset?

I feel like the Kyb rides lower in the stroke both front and rear and has a much more dead feeling. The bike seems to not has turn as well either no matter where I run the fork height. Goes from under steer to over steer really easy.

With all that said, this is me picking about minor differences between the two. All on all, the kyb works really well.

Hey guys sorry for the delay on this build! Finally got a few parts in last week and was able to get things back together. I ordered a heavier spring (4.8) from WP and it took about 4 weeks to come in.

I was able to pick up a sent of gently used OEM husky wheels and completed them with a Sunstar sprocket and Braking rotors. I went with the OS 270mm front rotor kit. Check out the photos and let me know what you think!

Next up will be a complete graphics kit from MX Graphics and hopefully my P3 Carbon products come in within the next week or 2!

Bike looks rad. I almost scooped one of these up (250 though) but ended up with an RMZ for something different.

P3 Carbon products came in and will be installed later this week. This stuff is amazing!

I also got my custom graphics in from MX Graphics. They are a local company to me here in PA. Great customer service and turn around time. I have been running their graphics for about 7-8 years now and never thought twice about going else where. Hit up Eric over there and mention my name. He will hook you up!

I should have everything on the bike within the next few days. I will post pictures when I do.

Thanks for the feed back everyone and liking my post so far!

In hopes to make the rider cockpit a little more friendly for my height, I got a set of the Pro Taper foot pegs and chose to get the extra cleats at a -5 mil. I am pumped to get them on the bike and do a little testing. Has anyone else tried these yet?

What frame guards are you running? They look stock, but they extend higher up on the frame.

I ran those for awhile and liked what they did for comfort but they wear extremely fast. I just bought the flo pegs, hoping they last a little bit longer.

Those are UFO's. They are technically Husky guards but the frames are the same so they work.

Yea I was concerned with the durability of them. They make the steel cleat so if I blow through these billet ones pretty quick I will probably switch over to that. The only thing is the steel comes in just the standard height. I never tried the flo pegs. Let me know how they work out.

For me, I can't stand the Flo pegs. They're great quality but are too sticky for me. I have bigger feet and run the Fastway Evo airs with the smaller cleat kit. Good comfort and traction, still easy enough to move your feet around on the pegs when you need to.

Loved the Pro Taper pegs. Had on a previous bike. Arched top really worked well whether back on the pegs or sitting up front.

Do it! I am coming off an '18 CRF450R. I can def feel the difference in weight and this thing corners so good. I am still messing with the suspension to get it dialled but I feel I am getting close.

Thanks to everyone who posted some feedback so far.

I installed the Pro Taper pegs and did some testing over the weekend.

Again I went with the -5 mm on the cleat and this made a huge difference for me! They also have a slight arch to them which I love and it made shifting so much better. I never missed a shift. They had a good amount of grip and they are slightly wider than stock. I am still curious to see the durability of them. I will post updates in the future when I get some more time on them.
