Unlike when he moved over for Dungey back in 2017. It would have meant the title this time too if my math is right. We speculated a lot after the race on it:

- MM hasn't won all year, wanted it bad.
- He doesn't like Coop much so no being nice
- Win bonus
- Wife would have been PISSED
- No team orders (all good here)
- Simply fast enough to hold Coop off
- Coop wasn't gonna put Marvin on the ground
- Coop wasn't gonna risk putting himself on the ground
- Doing it again would have caused a Vital MX server meltdown
- Needed a sign that said "Let Coop bye"

I’m sure glad he pulled it off. And having Malcom make the podium was awesome.

Roczen needed to finish in 7th or worse and a Webb win for Webb to get title. Since Roczen got 6th, webb passing marv wouldn't have gotten Webb the title.

Yes, yes he did. But a first wasn’t worth the championship yesterday. Earlier in the season and Coop would have put the block pass on with authority.

I kind of agree with this reasoning. I don't think he gave it to him per se, but Webb could have block passed Marvin a few times if he wanted to win.

Don't like speaking for riders. But I can't see Webb giving up a win...ever.

Three reasons:

Bonus money
All time win numbers/records.
Hates to lose more than anyone

I don't think he gave it to Marv, but he could have gotten rough, and taken it if he had really wanted to. I.e. if Marv had been Ken.

I agree with this. I also think Webb kept showing him a wheel so that Marv would keep the pace up.

I don’t think Cooper gave it to Marv. I think it was just tough to pass on that track. Cooper could have taken a chance on an aggressive pass but at this point why risk it? If a clean pass was there, he absolutely would have taken it and gone for the win though. Cooper knows what he’s gotta do to win the title and making an aggressive pass is the last thing he wants to do.

Marv letting Webb by would not have helped Webb with Roczen finishing in 6th. Yes he would have a 25 point lead instead of 22 but would not clinch the title. I guarantee you that if Roczen was in 7th you would have seen a far more aggressive Webb and or a mistake by Marvin.

I understand helping your teammate at the last round for the championship, but definitely not before then. Marv has a whole career to worry about and hasnt had great results this year so he needed the win more than coop did. That win is going to secure a ride for Marv if there was any doubt about his skillset. Coop is going to earn the championship regardless and on the plus side he doesnt need to hear any crap now about him winning due to team orders. Id be pissed hearing that after how hard he fought all year. It ended up working perfectly marv gets a W coop extends his lead and hell wrap it up next week fair n square.

I think you may be "very 2018" when you talk about Marv being butt-hurt about Coop.
But, other than that? I think ya nailed it.

We have all seen Webb made passes with way less room than what he had to work with last night.

If he really wanted that whin, he would have taken it period.

How many times have he ran in to Roczen in the last turn to make a pass? And last year When he rode behind Eli reving the bike and shouting at saltlake.

Did we see anything like that last night? No, he let Marv have this one. Had it been number 94 in front of him, he would have made it happen..

But it wasn't the 94 in front of him. His not ramming it in there was disciplined riding while ahead in the points and the race, not "letting Marv have it'. You take the big risks when there is more to be gained than lost.

The berms had 3 ruts after that 180 flat turn to rhythm...he would stay lower and grab a run on Marv....but faced with No real way to Block pass there without hopping the ruts. To risky. They’d both go down.

Coops managing the championship, smart.

Coop made up 4 seconds in about 6 laps on Marvin. He could have made an aggressive pass but that wasn’t needed. Webb could have made the pass. Even Marvin knows it.

Second was as good as first as far as championship goes. He finished ahead of his closest competitors. So that’s a win for Webb.

Take a look at Marv's lap times, he had backed down (and had a bad +2 sec lap on 18), and was able to crank it back up to Coop's pace once Coop was on him

Agreed. All the bullshit about Cooper “giving him the win” is just that. If Cooper could’ve beaten Marvin cleanly...he would’ve. I don’t think he could’ve without being overly aggressive...so he didn’t push things. He knows Musquin will be his teammate next year...and you gotta get along at least a little bit.

If Roczen was in 7th or lower and Cooper could have won the championship last night I am sure KTM would have tried to signal to Marv to let him bye. But that was not the case so they let the boys battle it out. Also I think if Copper knew he could have won it last night he would have parked Marv and pushed hard to pass him. Cooper played very safe.

There was no logic in Marvin letting Webb by, and he needed that win. Additionally, there was no logic in Webb taking any sort of risk to get that win. I know Webb hates losing, but he isn't stupid. He also has a heart to some degree, and it showed by the way he seemed glad for Marvin. The win was legit and for KTM to ask Marv to roll over for Webb would have been wrong as hell considering that Marv really needed a win and that Coop had this title in the bag. I was glad to see that didnt happen.

Webb could have been FAR more aggressive, and made a pass happen in the flat corner after the triple before the rhythm lanes. But didn’t...if that was anyone besides Marvin I think he would have been.

I think it’s ALL the reasons above in varying degrees, but not in the order you list them.

I think I mathilde being pissed is at the top ...
