I'm going down in turn two, sprawled out across the track. I won't be able to stand up and I'll scream in agony as Doc Bodnar's crew reaches me.

When the red flag flies, because obviously I can be killed by the oncoming race traffic on lap 2, I'l gingerly get to my feet, check my appendages and a miracle will occur.

I then will go on to holeshot the main event restart and win the title.

They can call BS, and then you look like an idiot watching the main. Anything can happen, just charge.

I agree fully. Just pointing out how rules can be exploited when they are not specifically stated.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, "Spare Tire" Dixon.

That's what a race director is for. It's also not specifically stated or explained how hard you can blockpass somebody

Yeah I'm just pointing out there is a risk. The officials have some discretion to keep you off the re-start.

Read rule A2.c.20 that has been posted at least 5 times already.

If MacAdoo took a dive to draw a re-start, he was doing it all wrong.

If the race director can't tell the difference, he'll be doing it all wrong.

You're only down 2 points, and you're putting your entire championship aspirations in the competency of the same officials who didn't even flag riders off a practice session for Brian Moreau? That's just bad strategery.

As best that I can tell, that rule has been pretty much the same for quite some time. I don't think I have seen any documentation that could remotely say that a rider like McAdoo couldn't line up for the restart.

And thus far can anyone name a single time that it's been intentionally exploited by a rider in the way you are inferring?

Anything?

Now suddenly it's a huge issue?

Can you imagine how hard it must have been for McAdoo to practice that move? Legend

That was one of the more brutal crashes I’ve seen, looked like his back was bent in half. That crash could have paralyzed/killed any one of us....This thread and others are an insult..

Sounds like a helluva plan 👍

Just one of many things that need fixed. If you cause the red flag then you should start on a second row on the restart, backwards, wait 5 seconds or whatever. There needs to be consequences for wadding it up

So because he crashed hard he should be given a second chance at a championship? Should we give all riders who crash a second chance to start over? Or just crashes that block the track? Or just the very ugly crashes that block the track?

People are losing sight of the real issue here because they are so caught up in the emotional argument of defending Macadoo's badassery...we all know Macadoo is a badass and he did nothing wrong and the rules allowed him to restart. But that's the issue, there's a problem with that rule. You should never be awarded for making a huge mistake in racing. Mistakes should cost you points and championship titles. Macadoo made a huge mistake and it should have cost him the championship, but he was rewarded by the lame rule that allowed his huge mistake to be erased as though it never happened...and a second chance for a "do over".

I don't think anyone has an objection to allowing Macadoo to restart last place on a staggered restart with a time delay, or allowing him to restart from the gate with a time delay after the other riders have completed a lap (similar to a drive through penalty). He should have to restart where he was when the race was red flagged. This would be fair and would not rob the other riders of points and money, and in this case potentially huge money for Cooper and Hunter.

All the tough guys defending his badassery are arguing that if he would have crashed in another part of the track that they wouldn't have thrown the red flag....well yes that's correct and that's the point we are trying to make. No red flag and he either would have DNF'd or gotten up to finish near dead last to maybe grab a point or two and the results would mirror the performance.

This rule totally screwed some other riders who did not make a huge mistake and it should be changed immediately to force a time delayed restart.

So, you're against total restarts and would prefer the staggered restart every time? I don't think anyone is denying that McAdoo got lucky, but it was a very unique situation. You don't get to make up rules on the fly based on what you "feel" is fair that day. The rules called for a total restart of the race, and McAdoo just happened to hit the perfect storm of being in a spot where they couldn't safely get him off the track, and only having a "stinger" of an injury that didn't leave him immobile for long.

"Badassery" aside, trying to change the rules in the fly is equivalent of taking the ball and going home because you don't like how things played out. Fyi, I was also thinking, "no way they should let him race" when I heard him pleading his case at first.

That’s not my point...it’s more the endless threads hashing out the same thing...Then the OP suggests someone would fake a crash and lay in agony. Some are taking this shit way too far..

I would prefer staggered starts for sure, seems more fair to the guys who got good starts and were out front. But if not and they do a full gate restart, they should definitely hold the guy back who caused the red flag so he faces consequences of crashing and losing time.

As for changing the rules, yes it should be changed as soon as they possibly can to stop rewarding a rider for making a mistake and erasing it with a re-do. If they have to change it after the season is over then so be it, but it should be changed for sure.

You act like this happens all the time. It’s happened twice this year in all the heats lcq’s and mains and when was the last time before that? This isn’t some huge issue.

I guess if you are a billionaire and have 25 championships to your name you might not think it's a huge issue. But do you know what the difference in payout is between finishing 1st and 2nd in the championship?

Which race were you in the 250s or the 450s ?
Not sure why people make up impossible scenarios in their minds just so they can be pissed off.
