I was just watching a guy play MES4 on Youtube, Spencer Turley, and it definitely looks like the best one so far. Makes me want to go pick the game up.

So far, I like the game. It’s definitely not worth $80 but I digress...and I’ll buy SX5 in a year for the same price, I’m sure. The career mode is the best yet. Anyone know if your career mode abilities carry over to online?

My only complaints (and I’m really just being nit-picky here):

- limited gear selection (no tech 10s, no Sidi, FXR helmets but no gear, etc)

- all the graphics kits are the same as SX3...I only spotted a couple that were new. AND WHO PICKS THESE AWFUL LOOKING GRAPHICS ANYWAY?! Most of the kits look like a Trapper Keeper from ‘94....

- numbers on my YZ are way to far forward on the side panels

Well, I'll give it a month or 2 and reassess then. I miss having a moto game to fall to on the occasional slow week night.

I’d like the option to include fitness in some way. Like you can earn fitness by training and the end of the races get harder

I definitely know what you mean there. I was playing nothing but moto games until MW came out. Took a break from those for a while, played them for a small bit, then got an XBOX in September from my coworkers and started playing MW with all of them. That got old and I started playing The Hunter Call of the Wild a lot. Now that’s old and I’m ready to play nothing but moto games again. I found MES 2 and 3 decently cheap so I’ll probably pick those up here in the next few weeks. Are you console or PC?

Also the contracts you sign to teams are cool, they expire mid season which is dumb.. but it allows you to race different brands mid seaso.... back to the training stuff, pretty fun challenging mini games to make your rider better.

I feel like this supercross game they finally added substance. (Aka more stuff that makes a difference).

I'll be giving online a shot in a bit.
I agree with everything you've said, all though my one nit pick that you didn't mention was AI, I totally get that they needed to step it up, but even the AI on very easy is almost identical to realistic.... not sure if thats a glitch or by design but I really hope they can change that at some point, because making a small mistake literally ruins an entire main event Sad

I keep buying the games hoping one day they will listen to the people paying for and playing their games and make the changes they point out.
Agree with Spode on his points. First thing I noticed was how bad the track surfaces look. The track surfaces look like painted concrete. They do not look normal. Look at the track surfaces in MESX1 and compare them. I am playing on a Xbox Series X and a new 55” LG OLED TV. A new generation game should look spectacular.

Tried the game because of reviews here. Wish I didn’t because it’s terrible. I’ll never understand how games made over a decade ago have better physics and handling than these games by milestone.

It gets significantly better once you clear all of the Abilities in Career Mode.

Good to know. I'll keep at it, but I don't understand why I have to grind to get there. You'd think they would want the first impression to be a good one.

Yes it does. You can feel the rear end losing grip. I have it set to low. Default was set to high and my finger was getting tired haha.

As someone in my 30's who has played moto games since excitebike.. I can say this one feels just like the others pretty much as far as MES2/3 go. The tracks look worse, the woops are the only improvement there. No usable ruts, berms stay the same entire race, bikes sound like shit. Fun to play though, but Motocross madness on PC was better, reflex was better, MXGP games have better tracks, but hey its fun right? lol

Also what a slap in the face to Vann Martin to go play as yourself in a video game and Jeremy martins face is on your bike, also Pierce Brown's face is in place of Carson Brown.

I don't understand the negative reviews ?

This is by far the best version of the game, the physics are deff an improvement. Normally riding the 250's is pretty bad on all milestone games, but on MES4 it's really good ! You do need to grind a bit in career mode to get your rider to free up a bit, all I've done is Futures & 250 West & my riders abilities are maxed out, the next step will be 450.

MES3 had this really annoying thing when you were doing a triple section with a jump straight after it would lose power if you up shifted, you can rev whilst holding the clutch in a corner & it will still be in the same gear when exiting....I've found this to be helpful entering whoops & carrying momentum...

anyone got any decent set up guidelines ? I've been riding on the default settings bike settings.
Advanced Physics , manual gears & manual brakes.

I’ve got to say I was very skeptical of this game tbh but after a few beers this Friday night I bought it. I’m impressed. As always it’s a bit frustrating before you get the physics down with a new game (because these are not the same physics as previous games) but after I got some of my ability trained up and a better bike it works good!

Feels a bit sketchy going round corners and the 250 feels a bit underpowered when you going for the finish line jumps but other than that, so far a pretty substantial improvement over MES3, especially the career mode with injuries, training and ability’s and stuff like that. All in all, a pretty good game. Still has some flaws but it’s okey ☺️

Btw, does anybody know how to change the physics from assisted to realistic in 250 career mode or can you only change that when you go 450?

In classic Milestone fashion, there is a career mode game breaking glitch. When you get to 450s, the game picks rivals for you based on who is closest to you in the standings. Somehow at A1, Carlen Gardner finished second behind me in the main, so the game made him my rival. He didn't make the main at the next round, and now whenever the main is over for me, the game crashes when it is supposed to show how I did against my rival. I've tried it 5 times now and crashes at the same screen every time. Really stinks.

The ridiculously good graphics don’t hurt either. Picked up 4 and logged a couple hours last night. Jumped in an online match and right away noticed it has a different feel than the last version, in a good way. Cornering is a lot more fun and seems more realistic i.e. you need decent throttle control and good lines etc. The rhythms are also way more realistic and seat bouncing seems to work better if you need to seat bounce 3 out of a corner or anywhere else really. The rider movements are an improvement too and you can actually throw some style in now. I’m pumped on this game so far !!
