I think it has firmer foam.

Ended up getting getting the stock height. I got the oem stiff foam.
Anyone use the stiff foam? I wanted something a bit stiffer then stock and when it breaks in it doesn’t hit the fuel tank.

Hey all
I ordered a Guts racing tall seat (oem medium foam option) for my 2021 Yz250f. I’m 5,11 and I haven’t riddin the bike yet but just sitting on it it feels cramped a bit (seat seems low). From what I have read it’s a almost must have add on.
How does everyone else like them for being the height I am? And did I make the right choice ?
Thanks !
My dad just added the taller seat. Its not AS tall as tall seats normally run on other bikes so it wasn't to obtrusive but it helped standing and not feeling too low in the bike

I'm 6'4" and always dealt with "standard" seat, and pegs on my YZs when I raced regularly back in the 80s. Just picked up a used YZ450(first mx bike since 93), and immediately ordered a "tall" seat, FLO lowered pegs, and Windham bend ProTapers. Many different combinations to try...it's nice to have options! As long as YOU feel comfortable, that's all that matters.

Leg length/inseam is really what matters in this sort of discussion of tall seats and lowered pegs.

2020 YZ 450F. Tall seat and lower pegs..... PERFECT. Cockpit feels like my old 19 CRF 450R. I'm 6'1 YZ was cramped before the additions.
Which lowered pegs on the YZ are you running? I've been looking for a pair and can only find the flo pegs which are just 2mm down from stock.

I’m 6 feet tall. Stock is fine. Bike does feel a bit low and cramped but I think it’s the frame, not the seat height. Get the lower legs and try those first. You don’t typically want to increase your center of gravity on a dirt bike.

Ya the more I sit on it the better it’s feeling. I just went for the regular height stiff foam and seat cover from guts. (I hope the stiff isn’t to stiff but it should break in the stock one is pretty mushy)
I will bolt up the pegs and see how they feel.
Thanks !

i read that you say you're lanky, so long in the arms and legs

i think that lower footpegs can affect the handling of the bike because of the lower weight distribution

makes sense if you would want taller foam than stock for a variety of reasons

considering that seat foam can affect body positioning, for example if you sink into the foam when sitting
(i think using an aftermarket seat cover made the seat feel softer, 17 yz125, and i only weigh like ~155lbs 5'10" and my limbs arent longer than average, but the seat cover is aftermarket and i think it makes the seat feel softer)

also if you had longer lower legs than me, imagine having more seat to be able to grab with your knees also, maybe the lower pegs helping also

i normally run really short low sweep bars i think they are yzf 06 renthal twinwall

What is the weight of the Guts seat with Phantom foam? Is it much firmer than stock?

Noticeably lighter with the tall seat. I would say the phantom foam is firmer than stock

I have no f’n idea how this gets down voted Grinning
I’d get it, run it and see if it is a viable solution for you.

I got some seat foams for a team recently and they ordered some tall ones. Their rider ain’t “that tall”; but, the Yamaha does make -some- taller/bigger riders feel cramped.

Good luck

I’m 6’3” and I never run a tall seat. My center of gravity is already way too high (a high CG impedes cornering). I run a stock seat and make sure my legs are in good enough shape to stand up.

I like the GYTR seat. It makes the rider triangle feel less cramped without changing anything else. Pegs are still up high so they clear ruts which is nice coming from a KX with lowered pegs. It’s only 3/4” taller than stock so it isn’t excessive. To me it feels more like a normal seat and the stock one is like a low seat.
