Pretty surprising he can’t get any support. Really fast kid out of Northern California, don’t know his backstory completely but from what I’ve heard it’s not the best. Had a ride for JMC Husky for a little bit but they split ways and no one has a sure answer, lots of rumors flying around but no point in further spreading them if they aren’t confirmed.

I remember seeing him a couple years ago ripping a CR500 in some races out in California, in one of JMC’s YouTube videos with him he talked about how he didn’t have a bike for a while and was basically hopping on anyone’s he could to race or get some seat time in. Just thought I would make a thread to get him a little more exposure, someone organized a Go Fund Me for him and the majority of the comments were just people shitting on him for asking for handouts even though he wasn’t even the one who made it. Looks like he’s got a day job doing construction, don’t know what is up with his dad but may have disability from what I’ve seen.

Anyway just thought I’d post this up here to spread his name a little further, there were some really good videos of him shredding a 125 a year or two but looks like he moved to a 250F before his departure from JMC. Best of luck to the kid, seems like he’s got a great head on his shoulders.

Seems like a douche on the gram. Someone asked why he didn’t resign with JMC and his response was “what they were offering I can do alone” then his newest post is a gofundme with a 10k goal for him to get his own bike. Plenty of comments telling him to get a job or people saying they can get him a job and his response is “I have a job framing.” Idk about where you guys live but anywhere in Cali an apprentice framer can afford payments on a bike from a dealer. Seems entitled to me for having one good ride in a 4 lap 125 exhibition race.

Ya... idk anything about the kid, but if you’re a framer in California and can’t afford to buy your own bike, have to borrow others bikes and a buddy sets up a GoFundMe to get other to donate in order to get a bike, you probably shouldn’t be riding/racing and need to get your priorities in line.

I commented on his post when he was asking for help with his gofundme. Told him to finance a bike, then every d*** rider told me that it wasn’t possible, that i’m an idiot. If you need a go fund me and “ANYTHING HELPS” you should probably have signed the contract that was offered. Don’t be greedy if you don’t have a backup plan.

Damn, didn’t know what that line of work paid where he’s at. Didn’t really have an opinion on him because I never paid a ton of attention to his social media, but saw a lot of controversy on one post where he said he left JMC and then I started reading into him a bit more.

Apprentice framer is making anywhere from 16-20 bucks an hour. With overtime pretty much guranteed and a few saturdays here and there. 3 months of work would have him a new bike. Can’t be hard to find some sort of a deal for him.

Bro no disrespect but you obviously didn't watch Mini O's or the Arizona Open a week after. The rumour I heard (possibly the truth) was the team didn't want his dad at the races so he left. Please go watch those races if you haven't he was absolutely flying! I'm not associated with him nor a fanboy but do show respect where it's due and he deserves it.

Every privateer that doesn't have a filthy rich family is getting funding from dealerships, industry people, fans, businesses, etc. If he would have used PayPal instead of gofundme nobody woulda said shit, which is really small minded on the people saying stuff. Over a platform, which allows you to see the goal and others donations, people decide to hate and hate on a talented kid who's just trying to make it in motocross/supercross, a kid who's trying to do whatever it takes and is being hated on instead of applauded.. that ain't right.

If you’re fast and not a complete douche bag deals or free bikes will find you.... Guaranteed.
Having a buddy start a Gofundme for you to buy a bike is ridiculous.

I see him at local tracks. Pitched in a few bucks to get him to Loretta’s a few years ago. He was very appreciative. Also seen him flag for local races before. Let’s not be so critical of 17/18 year olds. He’s just trying to race a dirtbike.

This is true it had something to do with his dad at the races, there are some people local to me that got him a bike. Hes getting a 21 yz250f. Hes a local norcal kid that has a lot of good supporters. He might even be at my buddy's place riding today

Maybe it’s time to stop trying. There comes a time when every man must face reality. If your buddy has to set up a go fund me for you to get a bike because you don’t want to pay. It’s probably time to give up the dream and go to work and ride for fun. Like the rest of us adults.

Gofundme set at 10k to get him “back on his own bike” ...

I’ve knowing him since 2012 never had the best bikes because of financial problems. As for JMC it’s not like they are full support or much support. another kid same age, they group up together Martin has the same support. Buy your own bikes and stickers support. Next time anyone of you are at Club you should say hello to B ray, he’s good kid.

He had way more support from JMC than that, more like a factory ride than you think

I don’t know the details of the operation but a friend of mine does their suspension (former WP tech for GNCC factory team). Their riders get a ton of support at the top level. Bikes, A-kits, etc.

Yeah I don't know the details, but if he was getting bikes, even if not getting expense money is better than going on your own. Sounds like a lot of teenagers...

Just want to share my experience with B-Ray! I have known him now for 7 years! In those 7 years I have never witnessed B-Ray ride dirty ever! In fact, I have seen multiple times, including this past Saturday, B-Ray stop in the middle of the track and help someone who crashed get their bike up and get going again! As for his financial situation, he is 17 years older and a senior in HighSchool. When B-Ray was 10 years older I witnessed him change his dad’s bandages on his feet which he nearly lost due to diabetes. I saw him cook dinner for he and his dad after doing school work. Is he perfect? No I am certain he is not! What I have witnessed is a young man with a huge heart and a whole lot of talent on a dirt bike. He and his dad have done what they can to try to be able to race with the best riders they could find. Most of the time the other riders have had much newer equipment and could afford all the latest parts etc. I’ve witnessed B-Ray give some of the best up and coming riders, (one who just landed a full 250 factory deal) all they could handle out on the track when those others were on much better equipment yet I did not see B-Ray complain. He owned his performances and worked hard to improve! As for his dad John! He will be the first to tell you he is rough around the edges but has raised Brandon on his own and first and foremost tells B-Ray to be humble and appreciative. John may make mistakes and the wrong decision from time to time but it is truly his passion to do what is right for B-Ray that drives him! He told me he knows that if B-Ray can ever land a factory contract, that he will have to let B-Ray go do that without him but will always be looking out for B-Ray to remind him to be humble and appreciate every single person that has ever helped him along the way! The kid is impressive on a motorcycle for sure and If you ever get a chance to truly get to know him as a person I think you would be impressed with this 17 year old young man! I have been!

You don't have to have money or the latest bikes to showcase your talent. See Jerry Robin and his 85 CR250.

Actually that was how he landed the JMC ride from what I understand. First saw him at Fly National i 2018 on clapped out bikes (older two-strokes) flying a mullet & a smile. Seen him around at races & my boys interact with him. Great style, rides with heart and throws greasy whips. Does seem to have a bit of impulse control issues but that isn't abnormal at all for an MX rider.

That said, this sport is designed for the rich/pseudo-rich(mostly). So even though he is fast (b-class still) he should probably be preparing to make his money through some other avenue long term, IMO. He doesn't have the funds to buy rides like other NW talent does so I doubt we will see him get any decent offers. Levi Kitchen is one of the few that earned it the hard way for the most part but even he had much better family financials than Brandon Ray does.....Money talks in this sport, sadly.........

Seemed like 2 years back he was very appreciative and humble. Saw the JMC videos last year and seem to think he was entitled for whatever reason. Hard to believe that if he is putting in the work and getting results then teams will find him.

I’d bet posting a go fund me makes a lot of large dealers kick out a demo.
Looks like he got some help from a Yamaha dealer already.

Doubt he really thought he’d get $10,000 in donations more of a way to tell people that he has nothing lined up
