Thinking of selling 1998 CR250 with everything shown - I know 2 strokes have been “in demand”, what is it worth?

In PNW I would say it’s safe to start at 2500 and be willing to get talked into 2000

Anything over $2000-2500 and you’ve done good/taken advantage of the covid tax.

Nice bike, gen 1’s are in demand for very specific buyers. They are cool bikes!

$2000-$3500 depending on local market, may be better to wait until tax refund time or spring

Gen 1 aluminum frame if it is in as good of shape as the pictures look I'd start at 3,200.00. Expect 2700.00. BUT it is a gen 1 I honestly would only sell that if I needed the money. It's value if you can make it 100% stock again will only go up.

Seriously ? My buddy has the same bike and he would have to pay me to ride that thing ,I still say they replaced the seat foam with a 2x4 that year. LoL

I haven’t seen the gen 1 or gen 2s really climb in value at all over the years. But maybe now that the gen 3s seem to be approaching absolute absurd prices for even roaches bikes maybe the other gens will rise just because nobody will pay the gen 3 prices.

I have had a couple of those come through the shop for consignment sales and or trade ins over the last year. $2000-$2300 is what they typically go for in this market, thats in running riding condition. rebuilt with all new parts, you could probably get a bit more, but it might take you forever to find a buyer. In other parts of the country you might get a bit more for it.

I agree. $2200 how it sits is a decent asking price for it's condition in Indiana.

Prices for used bikes have gotten ridiculous in my opinion. But I guess if that's the market you take advantage of it. I think it will push people to buy more of the Chinese offerings from GPX and SSR .People are mostly trail riding these things anyway.

dont get me wrong, one of these in really good shape (new everything, with manuals and receipts) can sell for well over $3000. essentially thats a $2200 bike with $2000 in parts and rebuilds added on. and while there are buyers for a bike like this, it may take a while to find one.

I appreciate the feedback! I’m not sure it’s helping me decide what I want to do, but it is appreciated. If I can’t get at least $2800 I probably wouldn’t be interested in selling in all honesty. Personally I think it’s worth about $2200 - $2500, it really is in GOOD condition for its age and comes with all the stock parts.

It’ll take a more effort but you’d pocket more cash selling bike as is with maybe a couple throw in extras and selling all your extra parts on eBay or similar

Basically all your spare parts don’t add any value if they are included with the bike imo

For a measly couple thousand bucks just keep it...you’ll regret selling it after the money is long gone and spent on who knows what.

Id say start at $2,500. When I see these bikes asking more than $3,000 I imagine the owner is romantic about it and Im not getting a good deal.

I picked up a 03 cr250 last year for $2,250. It was stock except the exhaust. I've probably dropped another $2,250 on it since then. Im not getting $4,500 for it. Its a bike I wanted and I will keep. Hope that helps, might now be what you want to hear but its reality.

^ thats a good point, if you keep it then you will have to keep putting money into it in order to keep it running.
