Women riders where are you

I like to ride, but finding time is difficult. The Mr is my only "riding buddy" so to speak, because it's difficult to find time to get to the track to find others to ride with. We both work odd schedules that don't always line up, and I won't ride alone. Time off unfortunately ends up being for rest and "adulting". Limited tracks available that are truly open to ride any time, especially during the week. Racing isn't cost effective for me... When I do have time to ride, I want to get the most out of it as opposed to just a few laps for the same or more money. Our jobs require us to be physically able, so we have to be careful. Weather inhibits several months of the year. Guess I'm a true "vet" rider, as I spend more time on maintenance than actually riding.

This is me. Other than a random MXGP at Sparky's, I stopped racing 15 years ago. There were fewer and fewer riders and it just wasn't worth the constant stress of driving 3+ hours to sit around most of the day. I just turned 50 so that's a factor too. I'm always down for practice days and am fortunate to have a track 40 minutes away. I like working on bikes as much as I do riding them.

Sometimes I miss start gates I just wish there were more of us out there. I was gonna check out a hare scramble before all this (waves arms frantically) happened.

My buddies all ride like women, does that count? J/K...

I raced a an off road event a while back, got passed by a couple chicks. I tried to catch them, but ended up in the toolies, as I couldn't ride there pace.

Guess my buddies who ride like women, aren't that slow after all...-Wink

Not Moto but there are many at road course track days. One fast one fell, and was back holding her toddler in the pits right after. Then out there again the next track day.

And another I know just started road racing in her 40s+ and won one of her races her first race weekend.

I dunno... here in SoCal feels like we always have girls out on the track most normal days. My wife rides along with almost every one of her girlfriends. There was a Women's Ride day at Pala/Fox Raceway earlier in the year that had a solid turnout. On the road side Femmewalla just happened (my wife is an organizer of it) and had 85 ladies out ripping the roadracing track.

Last I recall the MIC numbers more women are riding than ever before, which is awesome. Old pigheaded views on women riding need to get fucked.

Lack of new 125,s for sale from all manufacturers. Is also a big reason. Fun bike, perfect size. A 16 yr old girl, member at are local track. Worked for a farmer, bought her own KX100. A 125 was too big for her. I was at a race in Mi., Sara Whitmore,s 1st yr on a 125. Kristen and Angy from Wi. Where fast riders. They did LL and women’s pro at the nationals.

we have a regular amount of females out at the tracks here in the Vegas area... usually 2-5 at every practice i go to, and I think it’s pretty cool! I always loved moto because once the helmet and goggles go on it how the throttle is twisted not who!

But they do do Ladies specific bikes.. called Husqvarnas.

WMX is gone which really hurt. But it's hard to keep it running when there is less than 20 entries at each of the races... Sucks to see. Now on a positive note, Pro Motocross has been promoting Jordan Jarvis when she attempts the Nationals which can help exposure. I believe if an OEM were to take JJ or Hannah Hodges and use them as an ambassador for their brand and women's motocross at the same time they could easily tap into that side of the population. Just my .02.

what other type of answers would you expect from retired racers ? Ask any of the semi-retired young privateers (men) in Canada why they stopped racing at a National level and you'll get the same type of answer, this is not gender specific IMO

My wife runs an all female event called Over and Out Moto. She does a 3 day woods riding event and a 3 day Motocross event. Check it out. It’s pretty amazing to see how stoked everyone is to ride.

I agree. Plus the OP asked why there aren't more women at the tracks when she is riding, which has nothing to do with professional racing anyways. Women riding for fun and women making a living in the sport are not the same.

Even a smaller series or just a few races a year at select events would be nice.

I see a lot of women at the enduros and hare scrambles I run. Fewer at MX.

My Wife rides/races she has just dropped from a 250f to a new CRF150r as the 250 was too tall and heavy for her after some surgery a couple of years ago...
