I'm looking for as much protection as I can get while slim enough to be worn underneath a jersey. Want something CE rated and have narrowed it down to these 3:
1) Fox Raceframe impact SB
2) TLD Rockfight CE guard
3) Leatt 3DF Airfit

Would love to hear any feedback, good or bad, from their experience with the above chest protectors. I've always worn ones with shoulder protection and outside the jersey.

I am not pleased with my fox race frame. The plastic is only held on by glue. After about the 4 th or 5th time riding it started coming apart. Just got a alpinestars looks way better quality and the plastic is stitched in. I will say the fox was very comfortable just beware of quality. Don’t even get me started on their boots compared to sidi. Good luck with your purchase.

Good to know, thanks!! I like Astars products and see that is CE rated so I'll look into that for sure. How does it seem for impact protection?

I used the 3df all season and love it. When it’s very hot it does make it warmer, but all in all the comfort, coverage and protection it offers I feel are worth it.

I like how it wraps arojnd the sides and gives at least some protection to your sides, back and chest areas.

Many guards offer some chest, minimal back and zero sides where this gives an effort to hit all areas.

There are thicker, and bulkier ones which will offer more protection but this is the best compromise I’ve found so far and wear it every time.

I have not tried the alpinestars on the track but that back protection seems great. The front seems more for rock protection.

ROCKFIGHT, but careful texting that to your buddies, Siri auto corrects to 'cockfight'

Right on, thanks for the heads up! 🤣

Exactly, so far it looks to be the best option regarding protection! Thanks for your review buddy!

Been using a Leatt 3df Airfit for several months. I purchased it towards the end of summer when the temperatures were still close to the 100's. Offers nice protection with good adjustability for sizing. Air flow seems to be good as well, especially when combined with a vented jersey.

I've noticed that roost hitting the foam is not as loud as my last protector, which was hard plastic. The foam does a really good job of displacing the energy from roost and impacts based on my experience.

The foam does a great job not picking up body odor since or sweat. I've washed it a few times with a light mixture of dissolved Tide POD and water in a spray bottles, light brush and rinse it off. Keeps it fresh in the gear bag also.

You're using the regular one, not the body protector version, correct? I'm currently using the TLD 5955, wondering how the 3dF airfit compares protection wise to these over the jersey hard plastic chest protectors, I was also checking into the 3df body protectors which seem very protective but they're the jacket type and can only imagine they get very hot.

Thanks for your feedback!

I have the fox raceframe with the d30 pads and I highly recommend it. I’ve never been a fan of chest protectors in general as I felt them when I was riding so I chose not to wear one. With the D30 pads it is super comfortable and I don’t feel it at all while I’m riding.

TLD 5900 is amazing too, just doesn't work that good with the Atlas brace. If I didn't wear a neck brace I would wear the shit out of the TLD.

Yea I agree, the TLD 5900 is awesome, I love it!! Surprisingly it's not CE certified. I was thinking about taking the shoulder pads off that and using under the jersey but I'd really like something CE rated and new, I put mine through the paces!

I'm using the DF Airfit chest style under jersey protector. It's not the jacket type.

If cost is a factor, I have a 35% off coupon code good on leatt.com till 12/31. If you decide to buy the leatt I'll give you the code. I don't need it.

When I was coming back to racing in my early 50s, after a ten-year layoff, I picked up the Fox Titan. It's definitely a lot of protection, especially for spine. I have worn it on blazing hot days and you don't notice it on the bike at all. It does give you the muscleman look, for better or worse. The worst thing is getting your jersey on and off.

It uses EPP in addition to the bio foam-EPP is energy management foam thats used in some TLD helmets-Troy tested that chest pro in an impact lab and it outperformed everything in managing energy impacts.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I ended up pulling the trigger on the Leatt 3DF Airfit, thanks to Harescambled to make the decision easier!!

How has it been for you so far? I am in the market as well! Moving off the TLD 5900 if I find something better.

Anyone tried the Thor Sentry Vest?

Just the light front padding and a decent CE back protector... tempted to try one out, and they're cheap.

Check out the alpinestars A-4 max, I searched far and wide for slim but most protection. Wore the A1 first, A-4 has light padding that wraps your sides and lower ribs (bought the a4 after I took a footpeg to my rib in my alpinestars sequence)

I’ve put in a lot of miles in the desert with that! It’s a ton of protection, very comfortable, and it’s not any hotter than any other chest protector.

Looks like a side option! I ended up buying the Leatt 3DF airfit chest protector but never wore it, still has the tags. From trying it on, I feel I look like I have a deformity. It just doesn't seem to fit that well under my jersey, or maybe I need a baggier jersey. Kinda surprised because it's slim fitting 🤷‍♂️

Looks great, can hardly tell your wearing anything. What size jersey, do you go up a size?

Cody takes the best pics 👌🏼
