Who's the next French wonder to hit the US? Moreau was setup for that trajectory, but obviously the injury has put a halt to that. Has Vialle, Renaux or Benistant ever shown interest in SX? Any amateurs in the wings?

Theres a real possibility you wont see anymore top frenchy coming to compete full time in AMA supercross and motocross the next few years, I would say.

I can't see Vialle going. He will slot in perfect alongside Prado once Cairoli retires.

Moreau was the very last one (exactly like Ferrandis a few years back) to say, when he was still riding in Europe, that he wasnt really interested to compete in Motocross World Championship, and that his dream was to come to America to ride Supercross.
The others from the same generation, like Vialle, Renaux, Boisrame, Rubini, Guyon or Benistant have not the same kind of goal for their career.
They simply want to become World Champion, which is respectable...

I feel like less and less of the European kids wants to do the move to USA for some reason. I could be completely wrong.

Vialle or Renaux will most likely make their career in the GP championship and will never move to the USA.

However, it is not as clear for Benistant, a friend close to him told me he is not uninterested in the USA and riding supercross.

He hasn’t rode any SX in the recent years right? Ferrandis always did them in the winter. Just sad to see Moreau with his injury. So much raw talent

French SX isn't what it used to be either. It could be part of the problem. And with Covid, not a single SX race in France this year. In the 90's era (mine...), we all dreamed of going to the US at least once to try SX. Not anymore. Maybe the next one will be Lenny Pichon (Zach's younger bro) but there's still a long way !

I agree. At least his father can brag about his two top 5 in 125 west, something Tom will probably never able or allowed to do.

Yeah for some reason people like to ignore that. Ferrandis, Roczen, Musquin, Moreau, Wilson etc all made the jump. It seems to come in waves, every couple years we get a legit title contender or two from the MXGPs. It’s not like they’ve all been chomping at the bit to come here. One or two here and there, which will hopefully continue.

I think SX is the only thing bringing riders over. The GPs are arguably just as much of a premier series, but SX is a different discipline, and I understand why it'd be rewarding to get to do both SX and MX each year.

Yeah for some reason people like to ignore that. Ferrandis, Roczen, Musquin, Moreau, Wilson etc all made the jump. It seems to come in waves, every couple years we get a legit title contender or two from the MXGPs. It’s not like they’ve all been chomping at the bit to come here. One or two here and there, which will hopefully continue.
Add on the most recent duo of the Lawrence Bro’s as well. Not sure if it’s a culture thing or what, but some riders aspire to be in the USA and others do not.

Is there any current gp rider that has said they want to go to the US? The last one I can think of was ferrandis who was constantly banging on about it.

10 years ago it seemed like all the top guys in mx2 wanted to go.

I would say Quentin Prugnieres could be the one. The others will probably stay in Europe.

Thibault is insanely fast in SX, Yamaha France (MJC) wouldn't allow him to race it, now he definitely won't even be looking at a SX track (being on Kemea). After he is done with his stint on Kemea, it would be interesting to see where he goes.

Whoever said that their are "no more" French riders with a desire to race SX, is profoundly ignorant and obviously doesn't deal with many French athletes haha Their most certainly are a list of individuals from France coming up that would be scary good in SX and are eager as to jump into it. Maxime Grau, Jules Pietre, Maho Simo, Thibault, etc. are just a few coming up. I'd watch out, France & Oz have heaps more talent coming up (13 - 19 year olds) than in the States.

Yeah, it’s almost like people have different aspirations and goals or something Laughing . Some people legitimately like what SX brings to the table. Some want to be in the USA because despite all the stuff going on in the media it’s still a great place to be. You have a young racer, say 16-21 years old who has been traveling around the world to some amazing and beautiful places in the MXGP series then you go to some not so amazing places... then they see the American series and see the great living situations all the top guys have. Beautiful homes, cars, toys, women and live within a short driving distance to some great practice tracks in CA or FL. Then knowing they’ll hop on a plane and fly to mostly safe areas, stay in nice hotels, get transported to the track without having to worry about their safety. There are a lot of positives and reasons why a lot of these guys at least consider it at some point.

This. There is plenty of riders coming up in France. Makes me thinks of Pierre Dubost for example. The dude is not even considering EMX125 but he was as fast (sometimes even faster) than Prugnieres, Soulimani, Grau and the others. Kiliann Poll is also getting faster and faster as he started competition only 3 years ago.

The desire to race Supercross, like you said, is now just a little piece of the cake...
Talking about racing supercross in USA is one thing.
To really do it is another.

Look what kind of choice Gajser and Prado finally have done...

if you want to race SX at top level , SX series in USA is the way to go
for MX its MXGP as premier series these days

I’ve heard Thibault is really good at sx. But I don’t see Yamaha letting him go anytime soon. I think they are keeping him focused on mxgp. I think he will be Yamaha contracted (like seewer) not team contracted
