Hi I'm looking for advise on my 03 model cr 125 it not hitting the powerbands as I would like and it seems to be s bit boggy in 3 gear I'm not the best rider tho.
I have tried cleaning my carb out but I'm struggling to get screws out of the bottom end of it were the floats are and to be honest I have made them worse hahaha so to me I haven't cleaned it properly I know that.
I have ordered new jets for my carb for when I adveguly get screws out weather that will work I don't know.
Anyway people any ideas please I would appreciate it

Make sure the Power Valve is operating correctly. You can check it by pulling the exhaust pipe and removing the small cover on the side of the cylinder. Take a picture of what you see there and post it here or check a service manual.

I know I say this alot but I've seen so many CRs around this year range that don't have an operating PV. Hell I had to fix mine........then a year down the road I take it to a shop for a full rebuild. First thing I do when I get home is pull the pipe and cover to look and see that its not hooked up right again. I just laughed.

Take a hacksaw blade and cut a groove in the head of the screws and use a screwdriver to take them out. Then go to the hardware store and buy stainless allen head replacements and lock washers.

Melt down your tools and widdle them into handcuffs, put them on and don't ever take them off.

The 03' CR125 wasn't a very fast 125 to begin with. This is taken from a magazine article:
"
The 6-speed CR125 is rather torquey and strong off the bottom and into the midrange, but it starts to sign off soon after. Overall, there’s just not that much “oomph” from the motor. Test rider Mace said, “The CR needs a harder hit and more top-end to be more competitive.” The CR’s motor reminded us of the KX’s motor with its good bottom- to mid-range power, but without much of a hit up top. The KX is also slightly better in overall power

Yup, sorry to say you have one of the slowest 125s ever. I had an '02 CR125 and loved it despite how terribly slow it was. Hard to keep on the pipe and even when it was on it wasn't all that impressive. Still, it was a Honda and held up very well.

My quick solution was just going up a few teeth on the rear sprocket (actually many teeth...found a 56-tooth rear from Honda of Troy which I believe was a left over from Supercross). Obviously had to shift pretty much non-stop but it also kept it in the meat of the power a little better. Good luck!

Clean out and adjust your power valve. had the same problem at the track with it bogging everywhere. Opened the power valve up and had a shit load of dirt and such in it. Cleaned it out and adjusted it after. never had a problem since, since the carb was set up for the bike anyways.

I just bought a 1996 CR125 for $400 but didn't receive a top end, I just ordered a 1989 cylinder jug that's the same size bore as my piston, Will it fit, Im worried its a different cylinder jug because each one i see is for a different year and looks different

I think it’s the same HPP Cylinder from 1990 to 1999

Have Tom Morgon do a 134cc kit for you and it will be money well spent. He doesn't cost an arm and a leg and will give you what you need.

I don't think the 89 will work but I'm not certain, It's been a while. That said, the 96 cylinder has by far the best port specs of the HPP cylinders. We ran the 96 cylinder on every bike until Honda moved away from the HPP design. Even still, pro teams were converting back to HPP cylinders after the change.

The 87-89 had a different exhaust valve setup, it had the ATAC with the resonance chamber on the top. If the 89 jug came with all of the parts for the powervalve and resonance chamber, it may work. But if it didn't, it's a completely different HPP setup in the 90+ models and tracking down those little odds and ends can be a challenge. I had to buy the plates / spring that connect the linkage to the valve itself for my 87, I could only find it from a guy in England and it ended up being around $90 after shipping.

It needs more air. The aluminum framed Hondas need the air box opened up.
