I'm at the State Police barracks now. I may lose it over red tape with the local PD saying they are handling it and there is no need for the Troopers to get involved. The more time it is gone, the likely hood of it being returned goes down.
I lost a quad do to the pissing match between state police ( where I live ) and the town PD ( where the quad was ), so much dick swinging between the 2 departments nothing happened...
Best of luck with the recovery of your prized bike.

I'd show up with the registration and a friend. Take a look at the vin number. If its yours, test ride it straight into the back of the truck and call the cops.

If the add is still up post it here, we can get in touch and nonchalantly ask for photos and hopefully vin. Really hope you get your bike back mate!

I would get vin numbers and do as much legwork as you can without the cops. They are usually useless until you Can force their hands with precise facts (such as vin proof) and or you get lucky and one of the cops is a dirt bike guy.

Hell yeah! If you think it might be yours what are you waiting for? Dont be shy. Go there and check the vin, if its yours just take it back. Simple as that. Dont ask them if they stole it, dont tell them your taking it back and calling the cops, simply push it over to the truck and load it. They will have to be the ones to get physical with you first. If they try to make it difficult thats where a friend or sidearm could come in handy, but I bet you wouldnt need either. I wouldnt have even taken the time to type it on the internet. Id be in my truck with a ramp and tie downs heading that way as soon as I saw it.

Damn, that sucks! But I hope its yours and it goes smoothly getting it back. Its likely changed hands and the person who has it now may have no clue its stolen. Seems stupid to sell a bike online that is. Good luck!

No, they know it's stolen. They are either the perps or are associated with the perps. At a minimum, any idiot realizes mint CR250's without titles don't just magically appear. Also, whoever has it (if this is the correct bike) knows they are trying to sell a bike literally 1 or 2 days after getting it. That is suspicious in itself.

I identified the exact address that my and some other stolen PWC were at and it was still like pulling teeth to get the PD to respond.

Beautiful bike. I was ripped when my Yeti cooler was stolen off my boat at night, by fellow boaters! I'd be sick if that was my 250 that got stolen.

I assume guys that are selling stolen bikes likely know what they are doing. You assume guys selling stolen bikes are innocently clueless. To each his own.

Reading through, this is why my bike stays in pieces between rides, you can get it but you are going to have to carry it and be a few piece short when you get it home.

When you go get it, be sure to take a loading ramp for self defense.

Cops will be useless. I had a friend get his bike stolen. When he found it and called the cops, all they did was treat him like he’s the one that stole it. Have someone get the vin then go take it back

Been there!! Fuck the police route. When the bike pops up GO get it. detectives just spook the thieves into dumping it. Gotta just get a burn phone, be cool. Find out where’s it’s at then go get it.

You got the title. What they gonna do call the cops and say you stole their bike ? when you were just picking it up like you arranged with the guy that borrowed it ? Priove we didn’t have that arrangwment!!! Start shit bagging the shitbags at their own game.

If It were me I'd set up to go look at it with a friend or two, check the vin if its yours give your buddy some sort of signal to call the cops and then just load it in your truck if It goes south cops are already on the way

I wouldn’t even call the cops. Let them call the cops. The justice here is you showing the asshoke you got your
Bike back. Maybe he will go rob someone else next time. Leave the police out of it unless they get stupid. Let them chase you or follow you right To a police station. If they don’t follow you fuck em. They’re not dumb enough to come back. Maybe you should remind them that it’s dumb to Try and steal it back.

I’m a state trooper and know your strife with dealing with differing police agencies. Always a dick swinging contest.

If it were me, I’d go look at it with a couple buddies if you can’t get the police to go with you. Steal it back if the vin matches. Maybe have your phone on record in your pocket or take a small digital recorder to discreetly record a conversation with the seller... might help the police with their case.

Can I ask why you keep posting about your bike? If you know or feel that's your bike, why aren't you there with a
truck and loading ramp ready to take back what's potentially yours? I had an 87 CR 125 stolen years ago before Facebook, Craigslist or any other social media.
You have an advantage. If that bike popped up anywhere and I felt it was mine, I wouldn't be posting anything other then pics of it back home in my garage.

FYI. MY phone/text is. 845 664 3207. Text is better since all I get are calls to get a extended warranty for my 2004 Trailblazer. I tend to not bother answering calls because of nuisances like these.

Dude, please give the ad another read before going vigilante on it.

That's a wanted ad, with a screenshot of Google image search for CRs. Two of the pictures are 2002s, and two are thumbnails for a Youtube video from 2017

That guy is hoping to buy a CR, not sell one. He also doesn't know what he wants, given that he says he wants his CR250r to be a 4-stroke, '07 or newer (there are no CR250R newer than '07).

I've done this a few times undercover (city cop). Plain clothes, carrying a recording device (PA is one party consent) and checking out the bike. Sometimes it ends up not being the bike but sometimes it does. Ive done it out of my jurisdiction not getting paid a few times. Being wire tap certified and a cop, the defense attorneys rarely have many arguments to make.

Not only are they pics of different bikes but the ad has been up for 11 weeks. I'm guessing it's not your bike bro.

Wow, what a crazy path this is taking...

Free advice, don't post anymore on possible leads until it's been fully looked into.
Among other things, Vital doesn't exist in a vacuum.
The thieves or their friends could easily be reading this thread.
