Btw, Jordi Tixier got 12th overall and 9th in the second moto as a privateer. That is really impressive in my opinion.

Wasn’t he the kid that rode a green KTM in EMX125 in 2015?

Here’s Fernandez on his ”Kawasaki”

But since you mentioned Savaste, Brian Moreau was his team mate at the time in EMX125, and while Savaste raced a KTM disguised as a Kawasaki Moreau rode a Yamaha disguised as a Kawi. So two Kawasaki team mates that rode a KTM and a Yamaha.

Racing was absolutely great!
Is it just me or did Fevbres riding style change with the new bike?

That is correct, he rode a green KTM in 2015 at the EMX125.

Rubén is well known here in southern Europe. He comes from a motocross humble family from Galicia in the spanish northwest (as well as Prado who was born around 100 miles far from Rubén).

His father is Paco Fernández Rial, one of the motocross pioneers in Spain and Portugal from the 80s and 90s. He was a dedicated and strong-hearted warrior at the track who later introduced his kids to the sport, where they started collecting regional and national championship wins.

Ruben's father

Rubén and family

Ruben started racing the EMX125 and 125 Junior World Championship with the help of F&H in 2015 aboard his KTM with green plastics and he was 4th.

The KTM with green plastics and hubs.

His performance brought the attention of the dutch team who signed him. He left to live in the Netherlands with them and he achieved third at EMX250 in 2017.

2018 was his first full year at MX2 and it was not a good one. He got injuries and illnesses and later in the season broke with the team to get the help of Yamaha to finish the championship.

In 2019 he came back to EMX250 and he was injured during more than a half of the year.

2020 is his year of bouncing back to MX2 and he is showing that he has the speed to be there. If he gets good support and keeps a mature mentality he might become a regular threat for podiums.

Oh ok, yeah Brian did ride a KXF with a YZ125 engine in it, 2016 I believe.

He’s the thread about the bike. The picture that Sidecar posted is actually the one I took at matterley.

Looked like the earlier battle with Seewer stopped Herlings momentum for a couple of laps. I agree that he's not himself for a long while now. It looks he's not comfortable on his bike. Even in Valkenswaard he was not riding 100%. None the less pretty impressive late moto charges from 84 and 222. He had to pass some very difficult guys to pass. Great for Gajser and the championship. Nice 2nd place for the Hoff. What was going on with Desalle?

Agreed on Herlings not looking like himself. He’s making a lot of small mistakes, and he’s not flowing around like he usually does. It was the same thing at Valkenswaard. Now he seemed like he started to get going, and then when Seewer took him wide it messed him up completely, Jasikonis came back by him and it took him almost 15 minutes to catch back up to Seewer. But the competition also makes it a lot harder, when 2 years ago Herlings and Cairoli casually gapped the rest by seconds a lap, now there’s 10 guys that fit in to those seconds which means you don’t get away with a bad start and when you start that late moto charge you have 5 to 7 guys to pass instead of 1 or 2.

For Herlings; he had a practice crash 2 weeks ago where he went KO.

Good racing today!

Notable Performances;

- Geerts with a horrible 1st run, and a prefect 2nd
- Vialle with a very good showing
- vd Moosdijk who seems to be the best EMX250 transfer.
- Boisrame solid.
- Fernandez with the speed, but not there with his stamina.

- The Hoff with 2 stunning performances
- Sewer with another not-just-yet one
- Febvre solid on the new bike
- Tonus had 2 good motos going, too bad for the get-off
- Cairoli off the pace (but there was a 2nd heat crash, bad recovery tho).
- Covington horrible (31st)
According to Herlings interview with gatedrop.com, it was very small concussion that did not affect him at all. No words about KO.

Those square edge bumps were among the worst I've seen. Brutal. The track was so gnarly the 250 riders looked like amateurs compared to the 450 guys.

He rode for two years on the 125 and he changed to the KTM for the 2nd year when he won the championship. Might be that he changed midway through the first season, but I’m pretty sure they atleast started on different bikes with Savaste even if they were on the same team.

So here’s the pic. I correct myself that it’s not a full Yamaha but a Yamaha engine fitted in a Kawi frame.

That track gnarly as fuck, catches them out.
First race he pulled out with a broken clutch.
Second race he crashed into a bank and pulled out.

He was stiff and sore this morning and sore from the inside aswell. He returns to Belgium for further checkups, so he's out for the following 2 GP's.

Hey you guys , I've been off the moto boards for a while , so I'm kind of out of the loop. Couple questions.

1.) What was the reason for doing a timed qualifying practice , instead of an actual heat race?

2.) This new EMX open class , isn't that just another 450 class , with a few 250's thrown in?

3.) Why did they get rid of the EMX 250 2 stroke class?

4.) They are still doing the EMX 125 class right?

1) Apparently it's so they can have a 1 day format so the riders have more time to recover between multiple back to back races.

2) Yes.

3 & 4) They still have a 2t class and 125. Go to the drop down menu on the MXGP calendar https://www.mxgp.com/calendar and it tells you which classes are running at which events.

Thanks man! I didn't know about that drop down menu until now. Makes me feel a lot better knowing those 2 stroke classes are still part of the program.

Hopefully they smooth out the track a little to make it less gnarly for these guys. Can't imagine racing that track for 6 motos in a week.
