I learned how to drive a manual shift on a 1976 F100 with a 3 on the tree.

Im no fan of most of Fords offerings, but will reserve judgement on this Bronco for now. The originals from back in the day were bullet proof so Im hoping they got it right on this one too.

Did they use steel or aluminum on the body panels?
I can say without a doubt the inner doors are aluminum . Thats the only die that came through our shop.

Really wish the towing capacity was around 5500-6000lbs.... Looks like the duramax gets to stay a little longer

I heard 28k for the 2 door ,if it's anything like the truck market it will increase by 4 or 5 grand for the 4 door.

Top of the line 4dr will be in the Raptor range. So 60g's + dealer mark-up.

Put some Nitto Ridge Grapplers on that thing. Excellent wear and hardly any noise at all. And while it doesnt apply to the Bronco, you can get them in E rating if needed. (I use them on my 2500 and love 'em)

Same here! 3 on the tree, manual steering & brakes, short bed. Cantankerous and ill-handling, I threw it in a ditch 11 days after getting my driver’s license. My girlfriend was picking glass out of her forehead that evening.

Good luck with those ever smaller and smaller turbo engines. Even the Wrangler has one in the lineup now. Call me old fashioned but there’s “no replacement for displacement”.

The Bronco is just another toy. I still think they’ll sell a bunch.

Yes Sir. I’m not saying it cannot be done right but my faith in the big 3 putting out a small displacement gasoline engine with a turbo that lasts is about nil. Not saying there are exceptions but if I’m going that route I’d prefer to hire the work out to a reputable engine builder. At some point it’s like - why? Put a 302 in the thing, tune it down and run it till the wheels fall off.

Edit to add: I get it CARB/EPA etc. -there is such a thing as cylinder deactivation. And electric motors. But a 4 cylinder turbo from Ford? No thank you.

I love a high revving small block as much as the next guy but when my little focus st turns the same numbers as the cars that ruled the streets in the 60s it's time to rethink your stance on how to make horsepower.

Exactly, Ford has been making turbo 4 cylinders on and off for 3 decades, and the ecoboosts have been around for over a decade.

A 2.3 Ecoboost Mustang is quicker and faster in the quarter than pretty much anything made in the 60's/70's, with the exception of some of the race only superstock cars.

The 440 powered 68 Charger R/T I owned stock for stock would get its ass handed to it by minivans and pickup trucks, including my 100% stock crew cab Raptor.

Shit, my 2019 Laramie with the 5.7 and 3.92's will go 0-60 in 6 sec flat and trip the 1/4 in the low 14's. Faster than my 92 mudstain was stock. Those HO 3.5 eco's in the Raptor are a hair faster and 4 wheel drive. Badass.

You guys remember what Kenny Duttweiler was getting out of a twin turbo V-6 Grand National back in the day? 1600hp plus. That guy knows his turbos. Displacement doesn't mean anything anymore.

I'm a Level III, Master Certified Ford Sales Consultant. I'm also a real car guy, that actually knows something about cars. Couple of my friends have the quickest and fastest Ford's in the country. Ten years ago, if you told me Ford would be the leading auto manufacturer in turbo technology, i would have laughed at you. Here we are today, Ford offers a turbo application in every platform.

I'm in love with the new Bronco and hope the body is completely aluminum!

I just picked up a 2019 3.5EB F150 With the HO motor. I drove all the 1500s multiple times. Not even the 6.2 GM can put out the grunt of the little 3.5. And the 3.5 does it at a way lower RPM.

It is almost comical how the engine sounds like a sewing machine when it is idling but turns into Jekyll and Hyde. The turbos light off instantly and torque is there from 1500 RPMs on.

While I’m impressed so far let’s see how the truck holds up. That’s the only question in my mind.

I probably wasn’t clear in my post. I’m sure the new Bronco EcoBoost has plenty of power. It’ll be a fun type of power, too.

I’ll take simplicity and longevity over the added complexity, higher compression and heat that comes with adding forced induction.

You’ll have a hard time convincing me that a smaller, higher compression gasoline automobile engine will outlast a modern, normally aspirated V6 or V8.

I’m probably not in the targeted market for a Bronco anyway - but I hope they sell millions.

Fun fact, many of the test/review videos you’re seeing on the Bronco were filmed at a soon to open ORV park here in Michigan.
