I’m contemplating between the VP T4 and the Sunoco GTX 260. I like the Sunoco fuel better because of the price difference but is it the correct fuel to run in a stock 450 dirtbike?

I dont know if its "correct" fuel or not but I've been running GT260 in my bikes for the last year now with no issues. I assume it's far better quality than normal pump gas. I straight up cannot afford to run T4 with as much gas as we burn every weekend. I'm paying $7 a gallon for the GT as opposed to the $16 a gallon of T4.

It doesnt really have much smell honestly. If you like stick your nose in the can you'll smell that its race fuel but it's not a strong odor. I have left it in my van over night with no fuel smell in the am.

Do you have to buy the Sunoco at the pump or can you get it in cans for $7 a gallon?

I am getting mine from the pump at that price. If it's like other brands it'll be around $20 extra for the pale.

260GTX is designed as a pump replacement. Will work fine. Different smell than T4. I had some 260GTX left over and I ran it in my generator. Smelled like a monster truck rally.

I think the GT plus is the comparable fuel to T4. Its about 4.7% O2. It will be similar in price to T4.

Check all the numbers or stats and put them side by side. That would be the best way to run a comparison.

A little late to the party here but...
I have had vey good success with T4 in my 250f and 450f. I have also bought the VPR (leaded version of the T4, higher octane) and cut it 50/50 with 87 pump with no ethanol. Worked good also, but dealer stopped stocking it.
I believe all of the Sunoco GT fuels have ethanol, which can have performance benefits but also should be drained after rides. I prefer the ethanol free fuels to preserve the plastic fuel tanks, o-rings and seals. IMHO, I like the T4 and Sunoco Optima best, no ethanol. Optima is priced better but is not oxygenated...

I love 260GTX, I run it in my 250f and 110. If you’re searching for “race gas” odor, 260GTX isn’t for you.

260gtx is also considered a storage fuel. Very popular in the classic car groups here. Cant risk shitty pump fuel in something that may sit years between uses

Does it run that much different than pump gas?

You are correct, 260GTX has no ethanol.
260GT and 260GT+ do have ethanol, which boosts octane some. Like I mentioned it's not a deal breaker to all, but I like the stability of fuel without ethanol.
I like the T4 for the Moto bikes because it has good octane and they oxidize the fuel without the use of ethanol. I'm not aware of Sunoco having a comparable fuel. (90-93 MON, no ethanol, 5% oxygen)

Sunoco told me they believe mtbe (the non ethanol) oxygenate will eventually be banned.

A cheap way to get non ethanol, non oxygenated fuel with higher octane is to mix a gallon of the 110 octane leaded gas with 3-4 gallons of 90 octane non ethanol fuel.
