MSM is the reason I'm so regular.

Thanks for that! Keep them coming 👍

Im having a hard time getting over the background graphics, they look like something out of a Road Runner cartoon.

From the sounds of it, i may be in a bit of trouble, as i have to use auto throttle because of arthritis in my thumb. I hope that is still an option in the new game.

As stated earlier in the thread, the amount of hours i put into MSM2 is down right embarrassing, especially in this lockdown era, but i love it. Cool
We currently only have 2 backgrounds in the game. Quarry and Iceland. We are working on adding more. Hopefully, you won't think those look like Road Runner Laughing

I personally love the art style of the backgrounds. But art is all kinda personal preference.

We actually messed with this angle a bit with our beta testers. We moved it in and it looked and felt weird, so we split the difference and moved it out half the distance we moved it in. Nobody has said it looked too kicked out before except you and one other person. One of our artists actually overlayed it onto an actual bike image and it was pretty dead on. Might be the camera angle causing it look weird? Seems like a non issue to me honestly.

Wow. Finally a motocross game that doesn’t sound like chainsaws! Looks great ! Can’t wait for you to take my money.
We actually had real bike sounds recorded on a track (2 and 4 stroke). You can change your bike sound by equipping either a 2 or 4 stroke pipe in the garage. I know this isn't super realistic as the entire engine would normally change. But we tried to keep it simple for people so they didn't have to match pipes and engines perfectly.

I think the game developers who do it in a sound room on a dyno have great intent, but it never works out. it just sounds like a wfo-no-load-rev-limiting nightmare. They way you guys did it, Recording at the track sounds better in my opinion.

Unrelated but I was thinking back to all old moto games I owned throughout the years. When Ricky Carmichael’s 2001 motocross game popped into my memory. I remember loving that game at the time, however watching YouTube clips of the game being played OMG the physics in that game were actually laughable. Someone please convince someone to make Lucas oil motocross series ! With Supercross 3 being a way better game then the previous 2. If we had the Lucas game my life would be complete
You know that mx vs atv literally is releasing the 2020 Lucas oil series as we speak ??

I love the feel of MSM3. When you get the all upgraded bike it gets really fun. The skill gaps are going to be a lot bigger than MSM2. And the new angle is better in my opinion.

Good to hear! We also have a bunch of features that will be rolling out after launch.

-Teams
-Team tournaments
- Special events including a ranked competitive league with points paying series like IRL racing
- Sponsored events
- Many more track backgrounds (forest, desert, stadium, Asia theme)

We are really trying to give the community things they have been requesting for years. Hopefully we can deliver!

This might not be the right forum for this but if you read it, here's my thoughts after a few days of play:

+ Gameplay is still MSM. It controls like it should and feels very much like the MSM we all know and love, just slightly improved
+ Visually the game looks a little better. It's 3d first of all but it never takes focus from the gameplay or feels like low end phones won't be able to run it.
+ Versus mode is a nice concept of ranked play that MSM2 was missing.
+ Bike upgrades and parts. A system I feel is much more fun than just buying a complete "tier x" bike.
+ Career mode challenges. A better version of replayability than the MSM2 version of just doing the same track with a faster opponent.

- Versus mode right now is at least 50% bots (might even be 100% for all I know). These are very obvious (even though they are masked as "real people") and almost impossible to beat. It might just be a beta thing cause I sure hope the game isn't full of bots just to reduce matchmaking time. I also think this trend in the gaming industry of masking bots with "real" usernames and "real" profile pictures is unnecessary and wrong.
- Career mode zones should give you enough gold and xp to be able to buy the next zone right away. Maybe you'd have to beat all the challenges to do it but the amount required to move forward should be in the zone you're in. Having to wait for the dailys to reset or to open gear bags just to progress is not fun.
- While the upcoming "teams" feature sound neat, I really hope there is a friends list or the possibility to challenge whoever you want whenever you want without having to be in the same "team". This is a biggie for me and if this feature won't exist I might even stick to playing challenges with my friends in MSM2 instead, as that is why I play that game most of the time.

The sheer amount of bots in multiplayer and the fact that doing career challenges doesn't reward enough is the biggest reason I don't play this all the time right now.
It does however have a promising future if these small kinks get sorted. But friend challenges MUST be there.

@Joe_Turborilla,

From the video's I've seen, it does not appear that you can ride a wheelie the entire time to gain speed; has this been removed? Also, will the feature of riding a front wheel down a hill to gain speed be in this game? And will it be possible to do the back-flip wheelie scrub?

You can wheelie like crazy. For me personally it’s easier in MSM3. Here is a clip of me. https://imgur.com/a/Ujy7h43

We nerfed the nose wheelie so you can no longer go crazy super fast down hills.

You can still back scrub and all that.

Awesome! One other question, will you still be able to change the tire color?

This is awesome feedback. Thanks for taking the time to post that.

I'll address your negative points.

Bots. There are a decent amount of "bots", which are actually just replays of old VS matches. This is because it is only released to a small number of people at the moment. Once we release globally and have millions of people playing this won't be a problem. We also have the matchmaking time limit set to only 5 seconds at the moment. We can always increase this to give you more chance to match with a real player.

Career mode progression. We purposely made it so you can't just blaze through career in a day. We want it to take players a long time to complete career mode and the journey should be fun. Try not to think of this game as a race to get the fastest bike and then just spend years playing on that one bike. We want players to spend time on multiple different bikes and have fun on all of them. I think tier 6-7 bikes feel like some of the best in the game and I don't mind if I'm chilling on one of those for a few weeks.

One thing that isn't implemented yet, but will be soon is getting rewards for replaying career tracks. So you'll be able to go in and replay any track you have unlocked and get rewarded for it.

We will have fun events that will match players with other people of similar skill/rank/bike so being on a slower bike won't really be much of a disadvantage.

There will also be rewards for Jam events. So the higher you place the bigger the reward. That should make events a bit more interesting.

I'm looking at our profile screen that isn't implemented yet and there is a button for "edit friends". So I think we have full plans for adding a friends list as well as a team feature. So don't worry about that.

We are adding a way to challenge friends in VS matches. Not exactly sure the date that will be out but it should be sometime close to when we launch globally.

Yes! You can change the colors of the following parts individually:

Plastics
Front fender
Suspension (mostly the fork guards and swing arm)
Wheels
Tires
Engine (changes small accents on the engine)
Exhaust

Any chance you have that beta for the guys in the US to try it out?

So I've only played for about 45 minutes but I'm digging it. The camera is obviously much different but didn't take much to get used to. I don't understand the upgrades yet (45 minutes and all) and the races as they are go by quick but there is a lot of fun to be had. When the tracks have a good flow it's just a lot of fun.

Basically the bike is broken up into parts. You can unlock better versions of each part and equip them separately. There are currently 7 tiers of parts. Higher being better. Each tier also has three rarity types (common, rare, epic). The higher the tier and the better the rarity the better the part.

I'll be honest with you... no I don't. We don't even have an internal release date at this point. Working hard to make this the best possible game we can. Testing out a few things to see what players like best before we launch globally. We are under the mentality of "it's ready when it's ready". Not trying to rush an unfinished product. If you want to get on the beta just join our Discord and I'll send it to you. https://discord.gg/P4Mgxfh

@Joe_Turborilla, thank you for offering the opportunity to do some Beta testing for this game.
I've played Mad Skills MX for years, and love it. I'm stoked to try a new version.

This new version is awesome, some great improvements especially the VS mode.
The navigation and bike upgrades is still a little confusing, just a big change from previous versions.
Not trying to sound negative, that's just an observation, and maybe its just me.

Also I like the tracks a lot more than the ones recently available on MSMX2, great work on that!

I've been providing feedback via Testflight, hopefully you're receiving it.
Thanks again

We have had others say the upgrades can be confusing and are working on improving that now. We might switch to an entirely different system if we have to.

Glad you seem to like it overall! Testflight feedback works. Even better if you leave it in our Discord (which you probably joined since you're on the beta). There are a bunch of specific MSM3 Beta channels in there for feedback.

Thanks for the feedback, it is much appreciated!
