I see $5000 purse and the only thing that comes to mind is...some former racer is gonna show up to save his dad's farm! ...lol

I'm always surprised more privateers do not show up for these money races.

Getting some thumbs down but it's true. If it's 5k total, that's what 1-2k for the winner? You eat that up quickly in gas, tires etc.

I'm sure he's prepping his SUSZUKI with new Kerry Harris Satellite graphics to go to CYCUL RANCH.

The thumbs down is for the 5k to the winner question.
Nobody knows what "purse" means anymore.
Purse means total money paid out. Not "what the winner gets"
We had a 10k purse at Lake County fair last year and question after question was "does the winner get 10k?"

Unfortunately a lot of local tracks dont clear $1000 after expenses.

From what I have read here in the Central TX scene, the $5K is guaranteed, plus 100% payback in the pro class. Could be a decent payday for someone.

Cycle Ranch will lose $5,000 on this purse and you guys say it isn’t enough.

Kudos to cycle ranch for being an enthusiast promoter.

Maybe these "privateers" are not as poor or abused as some of the Vitards want you to think.Wink I am sure we will get at least one joker claiming that a 5K purse is not enough because these guys "risk their lives" to entertain us. Pinch Pinch

Or what stay home and make nothing? or go to the OK. State series race on the same day that only pays 200%. I'd say the race at cycle ranch is a good payout. People need to remember no matter what we are all in this for fun, definitely not to get rich.

Yes god forbid load up the van drive 500 miles when gas is a $ 1.30 a gallon and maybe make 1k in one class. What was I thinking that these guys would want to race and make some coin. Can we get Jeff Crutcher to chime in and give us his take ? LOL.

Michael Clement, longtime promoter of the EMX series and now also doing the Main Event night series and a Vet series is making this happen. Cycle Ranch has not been open since Covid. Pretty easy to lose thousands promoting one of these things. Already the rain is mucking things up. Several known rider's already signed up.
Mike is a top notch Vet racer who has been one of Houston's best forever.

Murphy's and Spoaks have been having the biggest practice turnouts ever since re-opening.

LOL, deal with it all day long in business. People are either too lazy and/or stupid too actually read.

Indeed! 30 years ago, pros would hit these races the morning after a SX. These days, not so much.

Anyone else not seeing Johnny Depps photo's?

Went to the race today. Vibe was cool and track was in amazing shape. Haven't seen that many racers at Cycle Ranch in a long time. Todd and company, along with Mike Clement did a great job. I think people were simply happy to GTFO of the house and this gave them the perfect excuse to do so.

Although wasn't able to stay for the 2nd moto's, Thurman was on point in both the 250 and 450 moto 1 money races. Unfortunately looks like he had a bike problem half way through the first 250 moto and DNF'd.
