They usually combine the EVO and Pre-90. Sorry, I thought I mentioned that. Stinks that you missed the first moto. My buddy Chris blew up his RM125 in practice, so you missed racing him, which would have been a riot.
I had a blast in practice on my KX. Track was awesome. My wife forgot the camera for my vintage race so here's a sucky cell phone pic. Looks like my form is wacked but I'm actually just trying to hold the thing WFO. haha!

The right elbow is always a little lower on Suzuki riders hahaha. Glad you made it up there for a race. 6Pack is going to try to get the track to do Vintage next year and hopefully we get more attendance. I hope it catches. A lot of guys I know are building bikes for the "series"...

I had a 79 which I had raced for 79 and 80. I was such a squid and so God Awful slow. nYet I was always doing something to it to make if faster and better. I should have been working on myself. That bike was so easy to work on. I would have no trouble coming home from school and installing crank bearings to go riding on Thursday. I think it takes more time than that for me now to get to the pilot jet in my 450. I had seen a few of those bikes break the hollow counter shafts. The fix was a solid countershaft from the 78. The same for the clutch plate puller arm thing in the clutch cover. Your bike is super low hour. Looks like the original bars even.
Have you done any ACR events ever? If I am able to do another practice day on thier track this year Ill contact you. There will be more bikes there will drum brakes than there are at the Etown practice track

Wow that's a great transformation. I looked like the chain was rusted solid and the rest was pretty crusty as well. Nice work! You guys should be swapping engine and suspension set-up ideas and knowledge.

I just finished up this restore on a 1980 RM125. Note: yes the tank graphic is from a 1980 RM250....oh well.

I appreciated the comments about when you stand on the pegs, the shocks push your legs out....also your nuts ride on the tank...doesn't help the seat cover is like ice.

Had the original piston when I rebuilt top end.....

Overall a good bike. Have it for sale $1500. Exhaust has been painted since.

Curious how to improve the off idle power? seems to lag a little off idle and then all of a sudden a lot of power gets released.??

Since it was made before the "Powervalve" era, you have to keep the revs up, or as they used to say back in the day..."Keep it on the pipe"...Very little to zero bottom....I've re-learned to
keep a finger on the clucth lever

It's been awhile since I've posted.....Added 16.5 Ohlins remote reservior Shocks, modified & rebuilt by Clark Jones of Noleen, acquired a DG Performance radial high compression head, and a Jemco RM factory spec pipe & silencer. Attempted to install a Keihin Flatslide pwk 34mm, but the floatbowl would not clear the cases, but I did find a little fix for the air Boot...Since the Keihin carb had a little shorter body, I installed a 1980/81 PE175 air boot, and found that it is about a 1/4 longer than the stock RM air boot and seals much better on the Mikuni VM34mm carburetor.. Just FYI.

That looks awesome, any photos of the finished bike?
I'm a bit late to the party here.

What do you think of the Jemco Pipe? Does anybody re-manufacture the DG heads or did you find a NOS one?
Cheers.
