Damn! Him and ML512 are awesome together, I was looking forward to seeing them do the outdoors together. Bummer.

My guess, financials are behind it. Owning a team and paying riders ain’t cheap.

The team comment on this post saying they will still be racing outdoors and the rest of the SX season, as well as getting things in place for 2021.

Correct. However, cutting 2 riders saves money. Not saying they were making a substantial amount but that’s 2 more race bikes to maintain, practice bikes, parts, etc. Adds up quick. So again, cutting 2 riders saves money. Plus with all the hardships people are facing right now with this Pandemic, would be wise to save money when possible rather to spend because who knows when all of this will calm down. There’s so many factors, financials will be one. Who knows, all speculation right now.

Economy was a lot better when the team was formed. Bummer to see them lose 2 riders in 4 days.

No one was “cut” due to financials, both riders chose to leave, partially in part to the mystery that is the rest of this season. I totally understand their reasonings behind wanting to do their own programs and I wish them the best when 2020 race season resumes.

I started a team to help riders and I don’t want to see any of them not due well, I’d like to see them perform at their best always.

So is JWalk headed back to Ohio? Guess there's no point in staying out here now that Hangtown is cancelled and Pala got moved to September.

We will be racing the rest of the season. Outdoors won’t include a full semi for the chunk of it, which was always my plan anyhow. Gonna have a pretense though, but the main focus is however SX season returns and I have to be prepared for what that could do to the budget depending on where we race.

I probably didn’t get it right initially, but I always thought that it was primarily a 250SX team and that the early West Coast SX rounds and any Nationals were bonus/optional.

If any of that is basically the case, then the riders parting at least makes some sense. If the Nationals weren’t guaranteed, they’d need to find a different ride for the summer anyway. With the potential for a split season, it might be hard to commit to the new ride knowing that you’d be going back to the “old” ride to finish the season.

Weird times, obviously, and riders doing things strangely is probably to be expected.

This sounds good overall, but how could they be better off on their own?

Michael, for what it’s worth I think your team did pretty well during this shortened season and really hope that your funding for next year is good. I know that sponsors want their product/business represented well and you did a great job on that front.

Thank you, I really appreciate this. Most of my sponsors are aware Rome isn’t built in a day and are in it for the long haul, and I’m very grateful for that. I’d love to build it into something lasting and something that can continue to offer riders and opportunity for years to come.

For what it’s worth the outdoor season won’t even get started. It’s wishful thinking but there isn’t an end game to this situation unless we have a pharmaceutical effective in combatting this pandemic. Otherwise, social distancing works for a period of time, but as soon as it breaks you will see the second wave 🌊
