Searle got some much bad press from the GH 4 stroke race it's crazy! He'll win motos maybe not this week but he will. Regarding the GH 4 stroke race this was his first race in about 7 months I'msure he got a bit stressed and a bit of arm pump. He's got the speed no doubt!

1-2-3 for GP boys... it will happen during the season!

I wont be suprise to see the gp guys go 1,2 and 3 at GH. they have the experience to win and the speed , i dont see the americans with much experience in the series except maybe dungey winning a few motos. it should be great racing but i beleive GP boys are smoking fast and know how to get it done. Hope its great racing all year.
YOu rate Anstie higher then Searle??

you guys are so quick to pick whos gonna dominate... I think a win is going to be very hard to come by this season in the lites class... lots of super fast guys.. who gets better starts? Dungey is on a mission but also there are obviously the GP transplants who are all on the gas. The Geico team will be fast...Division Star Yamaha guys will be smokin fast also.. so lets just watch it unfold!

I think the one given is, you will see 3 of the 4 green bikes in the top 6 each round. Other then that it's wide open, lot's of talent!

Pourcel will be the only GP guy to get to the podium. Dungey, Stroupe, Izzi, Canard, Weimer are all going to be tough for the euros to beat. Add in Barcia, who some say beats pros regularly at MTF, and The GP guys will get what they normally get at the MXdN....an ass whooping!!
ouch.... which ass whooping ?

iIt wasn't 1, 2 and 3 but 2, 3 and 4 isn't that bad of a result Wink

props to Dungey tho. He will be the man to beat for the 250 title i think

yep looks like Dungey is the only guy who can challenge the GP boys over the season? unless another american steps up the consistency Dungey is on his own to stop the GP guys getting the title. Dungey is a class act though I wouldnt mind iof he won it, he does everything right and deserves everything he gets.

I think Dungey is the guy to beat because all 3 euro's lack something.

Pourcel is fast but he does not look like the Pourcel from before his heavy crash. He looks pale and a lot skinnier then he used to. In indoors he still could win because that the races are shorter but these 35 minute moto's are to long for him.

Searle... well.. to be honoust i'm not that big of a Tommy gun fan. The guy is fast but he sometimes has those very weird lines. Just like yesterday.. he goes into a corner at the same speed as the other guys and then it sometimes seems like he can't keep the inside rut and then goes all the way to the outside. He often looses places with moves like that. And if he does not loose a place he almost always looses a lot of time. I think that also is the reason why he has not yet won a world championship.

To me Ratters is the most consistent of the 3 euro's. He has not the speed of Pourcel or Dungey but he's very fast and consistent. It will however be very difficult to win against Dungey because all the tracks are new to him. He must learn them all. Ratters is a sand specialist though so if Southwick is rough then i think he can win that race.

And sorry but Stroupe, Izzy, Canard, Weimer are according to me not really on the same level as the 3 euro's and Dungey. They might have their races but over an entire season i don't see them as a big thread. Barcia however is something else. This year maybe is a little to early but that kid is just amazing. He will win his fair share of titles, no doubt about that.

not to be negative but lets see how the tommy, tyla, do at the tracks now they havent had 3-6 months to practice on. yesterday was about as even playing field as ever, actually the euro guys had the off season while everyone else was racing sx to get a advantage possibly. did anyone think that dungey didnt seem to have any type of urgency to het up front quicker in ther first moto or was he being patient

I understand what you are saying. The euro's could prepare themselves for the outdoor season while Dungey and the other americans were busy doing supercross so according to you that gives an advantage to the euro's.

Maybe you are right. I'm not sure tho. Here in europe supercross is not popular at all. Only in France. So in France you have a supercross series (no idea how many rounds) while the rest of the europeans do nothing all winter long. They just get ready for the new GP season.
What have we seen this year ? In the opening GP's the MX2 class was totally dominated by the french riders that have been doing supercross in winter. The guys that actually were favorits for the 2009 MX2 campaign (Simpson, Goncalves, Osborne and VanHorenbeek) did not enter in those supercross races and in the opening GP's they were nowhere at all. It seemed that they lacked racing, that the long winter off didn't do them any good.

So maybe you are right and did the long winter stop help Rattray and Searle, but it is also possible that that long winter just was bad for them and that they will pick up the pace as the season continues.

One comment tho... that outdoor season is not nearly long enough. There are not enough rounds. Just my 2 cents...

I think the bottom line here is that as the season progresses you are going to see the euro's getting more and more of an ass whooping. Yes they did good yesterday but that because they had months to prepare on this track (and they still lost) -- I don't expect that as the season progresses. The euros don't have the stamina or speed of the Americans and this will be made very clear a few races in.

The first round is never a perfect barometer of how things will go. A lot of guys still sorting out bike setup and arm pump from the long motos. Give it another round or two.

Dungey was obviously going to be strong but after that it is less clear. And the GP guys all have to adjust to the new tracks each round ... and to the US riders.

I'll say one thing ... if Pourcel can get his stamina up and ride strong both motos ... the others are in trouble. It was almost scary how easily he flowed thru even the worst sections of the GH track yesterday. His line choice is far better than everyone else out there. Very technical and very smart.

But I agree with the mumhra comment about him looking pale and thin. Stamina could be an issue just based on his appearance. Maybe that's why he couldn't repeat his 1st moto dominance in the 2nd ... but who knows? Could also have been an injury, bike problem, ....

And it may be that no single rider dominates and we get a good summer of racing with a revolving podium of different guys each week.

Your comment about Pourcel's lines is spot in. In that first moto he passed several bikes on the outside and always in the same corner. Dungey was trailing Pourcel for a while and he could easily see how Pourcel always won several meters on him in that same corner and still Dungey never changed his line. He kept on taking the inside line, which was a lot slower because there was a nasty bump in it. Pourcel just flew through that corner on the outside.

ha ha ha what an idiot... its ok to accept that the GP series produces world classs riders who can run with the top americans in their own national series. Or does that hurt you american ego if you did that?

another thing to remember is that was pourcels first outdoor race since namur in 2007 maybe someone should remind the ignorant Andy Bowyer of that after his post on motonews.

I think stroupe is on the same pace as Dungey and the Euro's.

35th to 13th in the first moto and 20th to 5th second moto. Whether or not he can ever get consistent starts is another question.

He starts top 10, he has a chance to win

You mean this remark -

"Pourcel is a bad man, perhaps the most gifted rider we've seen in 2 decades.

But we run TWO motos here."

Jeez, lighten up a little. That looks far more complimentary than a slam. There's not a whole lot of times I've seen that first statement made about anyone in this sport.

He was probably being a little flip but also has a legit point. It was a little puzzling after all to see someone dominate the 1st moto with such relaxed ease and then run the entire 2nd moto seemingly stuck in 7th or 8th place?

yea Stroupe has that pace, 7 or 8 guys are the same pace I think it will come down to consistency and the GP guys and Dungey will have more of that maybe Canard too?

My point about the 2nd moto was that CP had not ridden an outdoor race since august 07 ( where he won the 2nd moto btw) and with his accident maybe the fitness wasn't there and maybe Bowyer should cut him some slack - 2nd overall and win your first out door moto in nearly 2 years ain't that bad imo !! tho maybe CP just was playing it smart for the championship though who knows with that guy. Also everyone outside the US has been saying that about CP since 06 why wasn't he writing about his talent then?

Bowyer was making an underhand point that GP guys cant ride 2nd motos in the US and referenced De Reuver, obviously becasue he can't say they are slower any more so is is lloking for somthing in nothing to back up his claim that US riders and series is still number 1! But they run 2 motos in the GP and Pourcel has rode 2 motos in Lierop the roughest place on earth. And I think Tyla did pretty good in moto 2 as well...

Paulin, Aubin, Boog, Frossard, Boissière didn't race any french or euro SX last winter...
Only Musquin did.

Well ... think of it as a back-handed compliment then and prompted by the seeming ease with which CP took the first moto. With Rattray and Searle running such solid 2nd motos, I doubt he was making a slam on GP guys not holding up.

Those GP riders will get tougher as the season progresses. All in all a good showing for them.
