Old thread I know but anyone running the Bridgestone X30's through all last year?, was about to order a few pairs but then read above about maybe a X30 rear and X20 front?.

Reason I ask is I ran a pair of X30's and really seemed like the front was washing and stepping out. Maybe the X20 is worth a go?.

No Hoosiers here, or I would!.

Then reading a lot about the Starcross in a soft front and medium rear?
I've been running the X30 front/X40 rear combo for a while as a lot of the tracks around here are hard pack.
At first I was kind of happy with the X30 front then I rode a mates bikes with the Dunlop mx3s on it and realised what I had been missing out on.
I did try an X30 rear and didn't really like it, I actually prefer the X40 rear. Funny thing is it has worn to a point and now doesn't seem to be wearing any more but it just doesn't have much grip. Its like the rubber has just gone hard.

I have a set of Maxxis ST's to go on now as they are running a promotion and doing contingency for a series I'm racing. I've heard a lot of good reviews so can't wait to give them a crack

Thanks for the post up and the info too.

The MX3s keeps popping up, but it's not available here, same goes for the Hoosiers.

Same feeling here with the X30's...wore a bit then boom, concrete.

I might have to try a pair of the Mich Star 5's in inter. But the Bridgestones here are a very good deal and come with free pair of H/D inner tubes. Bugger....

Ref the Maxxis, here there is a deal going on too, but I just never was too keen on the tyre...tire.

What would you say for a intermediate Maxxis F&R?...

Pirelli mid soft 32. Front and rear.
Make the first 7/8 hours on sand, after that you can go on the highway and the tire wont ruin as much as running it on hard pack tracks in the first hours.
Guaranteed.
18 hours on my set and i’m planning to change them around 23/25.

I buy a tire with big fat knobs. Almost all tires are great when they are new so I buy a brand name on clearance and run it. When the knobs are square they bite when they are not they all slip and don't bite.

Looking at the Kenda Milville 2, its now available here and i can get a cracking deal on them too, seen a few people in this thread with some good reports on them, anyone else?....

Also, looking at the Washougal 2 as it says on the ad "Washougal II, with dual compound-technology is the ultimate tyre for intermediate to hard terrain.
The rear tyre’s harder central compound offers excellent durability while the softer compound on the shoulders provides cornering stability and maximum traction."

So, that still is only ok for Hard pack?, as it looks and reads like its also ok for Intermediate tracks too??...

Just thought I'd update on the Maxxis ST's. Compared to the x30 they are like a cheater tyre. We've had some shitty weather lately with lots of rain but running on sand tracks and so many times I expected to lose the front end but it just stuck. Rear end hooks up really well too

Serious question for you guys. What has attracted so many people to Hoosier tires? Made in the USA? Word of mouth? The connection to car racing?

Just curious since Dunlop spends so much on marketing with racing, Michelin and Maxxis advertise a lot with Pulp and others, and Pirelli spends a fortune with JGR, yet so many are choosing Hoosier who I've seen do relatively little marketing. That's a business dream to not spend huge sums on marketing and gain market share.

I know they had a couple of 250 regional riders but they are definitely doing something right to get this much attention. Something I must have missed.

made in USA, marketed as race spec tires which adds to the appeal to some since you cant get race spec from say Dunlop. good reviews from trusted sources.

Dunlop MX33s were stock on my FC350. I've gotten over 30 (!!!) hours on them and they are still pretty good. I'll sell them for $20 to a trail rider and they will get another 30 hours out of them.

I just got a set of Pirelli MX32 Mid Softs that I will try for the 1st time in a couple weeks. Keefer had a good review of them recently and they were $160 a set delivered so I pulled the trigger.

Like to try the Hoosiers but not at $200+ a set and with a 10 hour wear average before they chunk. Also, I'm not fast and don't race much anymore so wear is more important than outright traction.

Hi, really that good?, not thought too much on the maxxis... so you would not go back to the x30?.

My X30's on the 2 stroke have gone like concrete and will just not wear out, so the grip has also gone too and "sketchy" front end feeling.

I wouldn't go back to an x30 front unless I wanted maximum hours, the Maxxis makes riding more fun because I'm not fighting the front end.
Rear tyre I would run an x30/x40 as a practice/training tyre but no way I'd race on it unless the track was really hard pack. I haven't ridden the Maxxis on hard pack so I'm not sure how it would go but there aren't many tracks around I would consider true hard pack

MC helped with the newest gen Maxxis tires, they are supposed to be pretty good. bridgestone hasn't updated anything in years. I hate my x30 rear.

Has anybody been running IRC's? They haven't been big in the motocross world, but they're making some big statements in the offroad world the past couple years.

i've run the ve33 before but the last one i had chunked very badly so i stopped buying them. my favorite budget tire right now is the Shinko R546, similar to starcross 5 intermediate.

Bstone Battlecross X20’s are my go to tires for loamy, sandy, “good dirt”. I cry when I roach them on hard pack (don’t care for X30 front), so other wheels have...

Pirelli MX extra X which have an open pattern but wear like iron. Good on loamy to hard dirt and OK on sand. “Training tire”

I’ve put two rides on the new Dunlop MX53 rear (Perris and LACR). Is anybody running the front? If so, do you like it?

I tried them, they were good on True INT terrain, other than that just ok

Old classic Pirelli Mid Soft 32, front&rear
If you do its first hours on sand, then if you go also on hard packed tracks, it will last a lot.
But first hours must have been on sand.

The front is wicked. Won't run a different front for awhile. Ride tracks that start loamy and end hard pack and some desert trails
