10 steps backwards IMO.
I was sitting on the side of Lucas Hill 50 feet from the track and I struggled with rider numbers.
Most guys were using the small numbers on the sidepanels which made it impossible for me know who was who. Once the front number plate got muddy it was guessing game.
Initially, I struggled with differentiating Stroupe, Weimer, Pourcel, and 411. First lap had no idea who the two Honda rider were putting the hurt to the 250 field.
I believe you need to watch the race from the fence to see who is who.
MOST IMPORTANTLY I DIDN'T SEE ONE SPONSOR STICKER ON THE SIDE PANELS.
Euros have no clue how to run a show...why are we copying them?
Maybe, it would be better if the riders or teams put large sponsor logo's on the side plates, but when teams put two or more riders in the same gear and helmet they all look the same.
Remember NSCAR. Motorcycle racing needs to find area for sponsorship signage on the bikes, but this isn't working.

The front number is still full size ... but that's the first thing that gets covered with mud. Then you are left trying to decipher the side panels. Even with binnocs it was a pain.
Go back to the original large side plate numbers. And back to the drawing boards for figuring out more sponsor area.
I have never seen small numbers on side panels in Europe. Why do you think this idea comes from Europe ?
And no clue how to run a show ?? Man.. you really need to see a GP. The level of profesionalism is so much higher. When a race starts at a certain hour it starts at that hour. It's not an hour late. Look at the hospitality units at a GP. That is so much bigger then at an AMA national.
All american riders that cross the pond are impressed with the GP series and say that the AMA should grow in that direction.
I'm jealous of your 250 class tho :D . That is some awesome racing there.
Ive been saying this all along. We had a GP in Australia in 2000. It drove me insane and the only rider I could recognise was Reed from his riding style and the fact he was charging through the pack. The race ended an I was left with out a clue who I watched lol Bad for the fans.
The teams located on the mainland in Europe (Red Bull KTM, TEKA Suzuki, Monster Yamaha, De Carli Yamaha, CLS Kawasaki, Martin Honda, LS Honda,...) don't use those small numbers.
Sorry.. my mistake

Thanks
Oh and PS please be prepared to write a check.
Solution: Put back the regular size numbers. Then add a laser unit that produces a large, easy to read, 3-D hologram that floats above the rider and scrolls thru his various sponsors.
Simple!
I'll send my prototype design over to DC today ....
But yesterday it looked bad. Watching the webcast I spent more time looking at the riders helmets to tell who was who than looking at the bikes. The side of the seat needs to be utilized for signage, and I think a minimum 5" number on the side plate.
