Interesting. Super fast turnaround when they just announced a few hours ago they would remain open. The changes by the minute are nuts

Wow, I thought I am bummed about not going to Foxborough if it’s cancelled, can’t imagine telling a kid that their Disney trip was off

I think some inconveniences for the next 3 weeks is worth it. Regardless of how deadly this virus is or isn't, it's clearly spreading quickly and these measures could slow down the spread. The quicker we put this in the rear-view, the quicker the economy gets back to normal along with racing and life in general.

If you have the time, I'd suggest giving Joe Rogan's podcast featuring Michael Osterholm, Director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP)

http://podcasts.joerogan.net/podcasts/michael-osterholm

The first 30mins are very informative.
Very informative, I would think all these riders and teams flying to the races on planes with recycled air like he says sound like a accident waiting to happen for catching this virus. I cant see this series lasting much longer.

Max crowd size?

Duration?
Well considering how much Massachusetts hates motorcycles, especially dirt bikes, they probably didn't need much of an excuse.

News flash:
Per the CDC, hand sanitizer needs to contain at least 60% alcohol. Tito's Handmade Vodka is 40% alcohol, and therefore does not meet the current recommendation of the CDC. Please see attached for more information.

I just bought a bottle and it won't get on my hands unless I have too much and get a little spilly.

I’m here in the Midwest so racing season hasn’t started yet but are local events still happening in the warmer climes or are those getting cancelled too?

State of Colorado just put a ban on any large groups of 250 or more until further notice.

Why not spend the rest of the season at indy. Or maybe other places that have supercross tracks. Put it on tv. We need sports as there is not alot on otherwise worth watching.

Indiana Governor has stopped any gathering larger than 250 people, likely to be reduce to 150 (as is in some areas)

After riders, teams, mechanics, support staff, flaggers, AMA/FIM people, Feld people...you're waaaaay over 250, easily

Actually you should not be surprised. Corporate America has been sending the Chinese engineering drawings and specs for outsourcing just about everything for 15 yrs.

Yes, 10's of thousands may have fully recovered from this virus, but they were contagious while they had it.
And yes, as of now it is a tiny fraction of the American public, but it is still contagious with those infected.

It isn't about those who recover, it's concern for those who may not yet been infected.
Limiting the rates of infection.

Maybe keeping your parents or grandparents, or your infant children or grandchildren from being infected.

By slowing or limiting the number of infected people wandering about, you slow or limit the number of uninfected from becoming infected.

You may have it and feel fine, no symptoms. You go to the local store, stand in line next to another person, they may pick up the virus from you, yet they then show no symptoms. They they go to the local gym, pass it along to 2 people there, and they pass it along to two more people each and they pass to two people each....partner, spouses, co-workers, children, parents

Through one infected person (You), we now have over a dozen easily infected and children and elderly now infected, and this is where the concern over death comes into play.

If your opinion at that point is "oh well, culling of the herd," will your opinion be the same if it's your partner, children or parents who are among those who die? Your attitude still be the same?

How many have to die to realize this is not a good thing or just "hype?"
Give a number, so you can keep score and look to say "told you so"

Then, if the numbers are low, you'll then go "See, all bullshit hype," and totally disregard that it very well could be all of this social distancing and working from home stuff that actually slowed the spread and KEPT the numbers down.

So you quarantine yourself 24/7 365 then right? Because the flu kills way more people. So by your logic, you’re a liability any time you leave the house because you could be spreading the flu that could kill people.

No one has said that, but you also might want to reconsider a night of poppin bottles in da club for a while.

You maintain appropriate distances from people, wash your hands regularly (constantly), stop touching your face/mouth/eyes (you do it more than you think) and cough/sneeze into your arm rather than hands, and even then, use sanitizers.

I went out yesterday, but I was smart about it, and not just for my well-being, but also keeping in mind the well-being of other citizens and even my own family.

Or just pretend it's all bullshit and it'll just go away

That's all Italy needed to do, ignore it and it would've just gone away

I don't believe that SX is done. They are working on a limited amended schedule from all reports.

Outdoors will be on. The current report from the CDC and Dr. Anthony Fauci is the this virus will run its course over the next 5-8 weeks.

The underlying issue here is TESTING. If testing was widely available, cheap and fast, then the measures would not be so extreme.

In South Korea they had a real failure in 2015 during the MERS outbreak. It caused them to come up with a number of exceptions and work arounds to regulations, including fast tracking test kit production approvals in times of outbreak. So they were able to get way ahead of the curve. They had more testing that they needed....which is what you need from a systemic perspective.

In SK they have administered one test for every 200 people. In the US we are currently at 1 test for every 20,000 people. We are WAY behind the curve.

If we had widely available test kits then such extreme measures would not be required. But certain political leaders concluded that if you do minimal testing you get minimal cases reported, which might be beneficial in the endless popularity contest....

That is the number of cases confirmed by test. As tests come on line, the reported number will increase due to measurement catching up to reality. I have seen doubling time claims by professional ranging from 5-12 days. Lets say it is 7. Doubles every week. That means in 1 month, there will be 16x as many infected as today. In 2 months....256 times as many. We have to SLOW DOWN THAT RATE. The key to slowing that number down is TESTING and EVERYONE DOING THEIR PART.

Are you actually expecting them to understand the exponential growth function?

x = xo(1+r)^t

So, bookings at Vegas hotels are down to around the 20% of occupancy range at some Casinos, and Caesars just suspended all live entertainment/shows. Not sure how that affects the 'finish SX in Vegas' model moving forward, but it doesn't look good.
