Dude has a beautiful style. It looks like a mix between Gajser and Roczen. His posture is very similar to Gajser, sitting tall and upright; but rides smooth like Ken and keeps his feet on the pegs. It was great watching him go through that split lane standing on his pegs.

His pass on shane through the sand was unreal. I think he will suit a 450 really well.

Very impressed with him, I thought what we saw last year was as close to as good as he was going to be but he has improved quite a lot and seems to have mental toughness.

I enjoy that he mentioned he didn't like how he won last year.

It will be better on the 450. Smart and classy rider. He is the next big thing imo.

His style is picture perfect. A good example of proper technique. It’s like watching Atreyu riding on Falcor. Has anyone else thought this while watching Sexton ride?

He’s stepped it up this year. McElrath will need to step it up if he wants this title.
Will be interesting to see how Sexton goes in the shootouts vs Fernando and Fork.

I think McElrath will struggle to beat Sexton straight up. Like you say, Sexton has taken a step forward and i don't think that McElrath has.

Does his injury still bother him or is he 100%?

I like this thread. It’s a far cry from all the “he’s not going to be ready to move up” comments last year when he won the title.

His riding style and stature are going to suit a 450 really well, and the way he’s defending this title Id say he is looking very mature.

His riding style is great. I still think it's crazy moving up so early. Especially since the reason he was eager (slow bike) seems to have been remedied and he appears to be a solid bet for another couple lites titles.

Same thing I said about AC – if you're winning in 250s, it's not easier in 450s... and there's no rush when you're young!

I understand where you’re coming from, for sure. I just feel that he looks very big on the bike out there. He still had to stretch that thing to time the double triple triple section last night. Seems to me that he’s big for the 250 even with the power plant being better this year.

Also, he won the title. There wasn’t a viable option where he stayed down. He has to move up, unless I’m mistaken?

I think we're getting used to the fact people stay in the 250 class for a long time. But it used to be 3 years and you move up. RC, Stewart, villo, all stayed in 250 for 3 seasons. Sure you could argue that those are some of the best ever, but really it's just who came to mind, I'm sure lots of other guys followed that same path.

He has this year to defend then has to move up.

He will point out of SX assuming he gets over 135 right?

But he's racing the 450s outdoors isn't he? How many national wins does he have?

I didn’t think you ever pointed out of the motocross class. Just supercross. May be wrong there though.

And my understanding is that you win an SX regional, you can defend it the following year regardless of points. But once that second year is over, you move up.

I think there is an injury exception for title defense of a non-first year championship... Motocross you can't point out of... but he's moving up for Hangtown.

He said on Pulp the main reason was he was struggling with the motor in that class and he's bigger – I'd strongly suggest being the best guy in the class on the now perhaps not quite best bike is less of a struggle than being just another dude in the big boy class.

RC only did two, Stewart almost only did two but stayed another year for three. Dungey and Canard did three like RV. You’re right barring injury more guys did three and out then nowadays.

That whole team has deep talent. But I think the two aussie kids will give him trouble if they can stay healthy. Watching jett was unreal and so young.hopefully Sexton wins again and moves up. Because honda wont be able to afford the current riders they have

Many good things to say about Sexton. He's fast, seems to have an excellent work ethic, and in my opinion, is a mature rider with a big future in the 450 class. Looking forward to seeing him race this summer. Also looking forward to seeing him and Ferrandis face off in the East/West shootout.

RC also said he regretted moving up after two years.

There’s a great interview with Chase on pulps podcast , he talks about his height & weight & moving onto the 450
The guy seems really down to earth 👍

I’m becoming a big fan of his, he acts very professional and respectful. Reminds me a little bit of Ryan dungey in that sense.

Watching he and Roczen in person at Washougal last summer was eye-opening. Those guys are without a doubt the most precise, talented dudes in the US. Tomac was faster on the day, but Sexton and Roczen are absolute technicians....
