Ride bike up ramp or push it?

Once raced 2 Moto's a day for three days with no injuries. Jacked up my knee at the end of day three pushing my bike up the ramp --- ramp slipped off and tweaked my leg and my bike. ...still only push it up.

Its crazy how many guys will hit a rut 3 rd gear tapped and clear a 75 ft gap but they are afraid to ride up a 12" wide ramp into the back of a truck.

I do both, sort of. Put it in first, clutch it up the ramp. Depending on how I feel after riding/racing.

I usually take two bikes.

I have one ramp for me, and one for a bike.

There are chains to keep the ramps from sliding, but I have been too dumb to use them...have not had them slide yet. They have rubber tip covers. Ox-Lite ramps

If I mess up the rut it won’t wreck a 70k vehicle....

I push. My truck has the tailgate step that Ford puts in the super duty’s - and it’s super convenient for bike loading.

I ride it up most of the time. Did learn the hard way not to ride it up after washing it. Ramp was plastic and I gassed it ride at the ramp and the front wheel washed out at the top. Bike stayed in the truck and I hit the ground.

Always ride up, you need a sturdy ramp and make sure you tie it to truck.

I always ride it up unless it's early early morning and I don't want to annoy the neighbours. The things most of these loading fails have is too much gas, sitting down, becoming a passenger and an insecure ramp. Ramp is easy, just make sure the thing's solid.

Loading is like ruts - never sit down and paddle thru ruts cos you'll just catch a boot and lose balance. So for the loading, take a decent run up to get straight and balanced while stood up already gripping the bike with your knees head over the front plate. Then I gauge my speed so I don't actually have to gas it up the ramp, which really helps when everything's wet and your tyres are filled in with mud. Then look straight to the back of the truck bed so you stay straight and also know where you want to stop at. After you get good at it you'll just give it a quick raarp before you get to the ramp and barely have to apply the brakes cos you'll have gauged your speed so the ramp slows you down by the time you get to the top.

Basically, if you can hit ruts up the face of a small jump then you can easily ride your bike into your truck bed.

While I'm too short to load a bike this way, this is my preferred method for unloading. (Let gravity do all the work.)

Having loaded street bikes into trucks before the one thing most of these guys don't account for. Is the transition at the tail gate too steep and you'll bottom out. Nobody seems to notice how it decreases ground clearance on your bike.
