2021 ktm/husky change rumors?

I am contemplating rebuilding ground up my 17 fc350 but was wondering if there is any word yet on potential changes for 2021. I have ridden friends 19 ktm and fc 450, nice bikes for sure just not sure if buying a new bike is the way to go or not... I love the way my bike handles and is setup with kyb kit suspension so I guess what I’m asking is do you think the newer gen frames are that big of a game changer and do you have any idea what 2021 may bring? Any and all insight is greatly appreciated

They seem to update after 3 model years, with 2021 being the third year. The 19+ are so good that I’m really not sure what they could do to make them better. Love my 19 FC350.

2020.5 Factory Edition is already out. Hasn't that typically previewed all the major design changes that will be in next generation?

Sort of. KTM released the first Factory Edition in 2012 and sold them all quickly making bank. They saw the market liked the FE so they then released one with every generation change which is generally every three years. The market bought all that were available so KTM figured what the hell, lets just release one every model year instead of only for new generation releases. So bottom line is FE bikes are no longer really "special" but rather a tool for generating revenue via BNG's, unless it's a gen change year.

I think it's both. It is a branding product-level platform, which often has only cosmetic difference from non-FEs. But It definitely shows up first with the changes: AER and the new head, as well as the plastic and minor chassis changes in the last couple years. When the bike won't be changed much, the FE isn't changed much.

I honestly don't know the product that well: has there been a major change that hasn't first hit the FE?

I don’t think you will see any changes to the 450 until January next year on the FE. That typically means no changes to the 350 and 250 for another 2 years. So you’re looking at the 2022 model year.

I thought the 350 would get a change sooner. I’m on a 19 now but looks like I’ll hold this one for a while.

My guess would be minor changes and orange frame for 2021 then a re design in 2022 if they follow recent trends

If ktm sticks to their recent 3 year cycle 2021 will be basically the same with an orange frame for the ktm. However I remember ML stated he had heard that they may go to a 4 year cycle for this generation like the Japanese typically do, so we may not see any big changes until 2022FE/2023

All "major" changes have been introduced on the FE's. As you state, mid generation changes also hit the FE first such as going up a tooth on the rear this current model year.
