A month or two ago one of the writers from Hotrod Hotline reached out to me about writing a piece on my Camaro. They got it posted up last week and he did a pretty good job on capturing the big items of the build. I'm sure it was hard to pick what to write about too.

Is the body all steel? You have some trick stuff going on.
It's beautiful, but so was the camaro.
Yes the main body is all steel. The front clip, trunk lid, and spoiler are carbon fiber. There is a ton more trick stuff going on that’s not even been mentioned in the article.
If GuyB says it’s cool I can start a build thread on here. I’ve never seen one for a car here so I didn’t think it was appropriate to do so.
All I can say is WOW. I can’t wait to see some video of this when you’re wrapping it up.

I’m a ‘69 man also and have had like 4 of them.

A buddy of mine had a ‘69 Z28 that he bought from my future brother-in-law around 1977 when we were seniors in high school. My future brother-in-law had swapped out the 302 for a 350. My friend with the help of his sisters fiancé built the 350 up and it was a real strong running car. I’ve never been in a car that absolutely planted itself when pulling a holeshot like that car did. No excessive smoking the tires while it got the car moving forward and no bogging after it launched. I can see why the COPO Camaros were a hot commodity for drag racing.
My friend drove his into the side of a parked train on a dark, rainy night in my home town when the crossing lights weren’t on. Smashed the front end completely flat almost back to the front axle. Looked totaled to me but he took off for a job in Alabama and turned the car over to his mom. She got a settlement from the railroad and had the car rebuilt. As far as I know she still has it; she’s still alive, my friend isn’t.
Interesting fact: All the COPO ZL-1 Camaros came through the Fred Gibb dealership in LaHarpe, IL. Laharpe is a town of only 1200 people about 30 mi west of my hometown out here in the rural IL farm country.
