I’ve got two for sale from this past year. Both 2019’s. And both under 6k with pretty low hours and mostly all SX hours. Let me know if you’re interested

Buying used when they are already done up like this, would make more sense to me, OP ^^^^^

No offense to Kyle, but I’d much rather have a new stock one over a used bike ridden by a pro

Kyle, what is your honest opinion on the Suzuki after now being back on the Yamaha?

I can certainly understand that. I was just meaning for the OP, who wants to "save money" by getting a new RMZ over another brand (but also planning on some major upgrades upon purchase to get it up to where he wants it) just wouldn't be the way I would do it. Pro bikes are usually sold freshened up and should have most complaints of the stock bike eliminated. Plus you get some extras that I'd rather not have to pay for out of pocket, after spending the $ for a new machine. I'd rather buy a used bike from a pro than a random guy, honestly. Value for dollar, I'd just get a new Yam or KX but if Suzuki is still a bike he is considering, I'd like a bike like Kyle's that has some nice goodies, low hours for a good price. I'd buy that bike in a heart beat. But I can totally understand what you are saying to.

I know what you mean and how it can be sometimes with some guys. I’ve seen it both ways where guys just trash their practice bikes and the piles of crap lol. On the other hand there are some guys like myself that take good care of their bike and they’re maintained very well because they want it to be in great condition to do our job and be safe to ride. Also that’s why I pointed out my bikes are almost all SX hours which are much easier on them than MX is. But yeah either way I just saw the thread and thought I’d show my bikes

Yeah that’s a good way to look at it. All just depends on what the buyer is looking for and wants out of his purchase. But I agree with everything you said. Also have some extras like plastics and air filters and things like that that I normally throw in the deal as well. I replied to another person about this but I know there are definitely used bikes that are maintained well and those that are not. So obviously always be aware of that when buying used

The Yamaha is REALLY good! I really like the bike and it’s so good out of the crate. I’m racing on a bone stock bike. At Anaheim 1 all I had were odi handle bars and grips, guts seat cover, sunstar sprocket (same as stock), firepower chain, Twin air power flow kit, a few works connection goodies, rekluse core manual clutch, and FMF pipe with some engine ice coolant and VP race fuel. So basically all things that you can easily purchase and bolt on the bike.

With that said the Suzuki was a good bike as well. It was reliable for me and I never had any problems. Once we did some work on the engine it was pretty good and my starts were good on it. We played with different engine mounts and linkages and things like that which helped. Basically it’s a pretty good bike as well especially after you do some easy work and a little help in the engine department. All of the bikes nowadays are pretty damn good stock. It’s more or less your preference. Some do some things better and some do other things better. For me right now it’s just that the Yamaha is unbelievably good with nothing done to it. The fact that I can go qualify at A1 and do decent on a bike that I rode 3 times and did basically nothing to is available to the public and you can just go buy it is pretty cool for the average rider to be able to go get the same thing.

Kyle just pretty much explained how we all felt about the YZF @ rhe 2019 Vital 450 Shootout when the all new bike came out. Hence, it won the shootout!

Amusing how Vitards make global statements like, "everyone knows that Honda's hold up better than any other brand". I consider myself part of the "everyone" crowd and I STRONGLY disagree with you. I've been racing/riding for 49 years and bought and rode Honda's from 1993 thru 2010 at which time I switched to KTM. I was on Husky prior to Honda.

I got tired of fixing the latter model Honda's after they switched to the aluminum frame bikes in 1997. The engineering and quality of components on the KTM is significantly better than the Honda or any other brand BASED UPON MY USAGE as a vet weekend rider who rides over 100 hours/yr.

I got tired of putting top ends in my 4T Honda's every 45 to 50 hours and don't even get me going on the shit Honda valves and heads and the money I spent on them. I've owned a 2010, 13, 15, 17 and now a 19 KTM 450 and EVERY one of them has gotten over 200 hours on the top and bottom end at which point I sell them and get a new one. I've not had to open up the engine on a single one of the KTM's. Hell, who ever heard of getting 200 hours out of a top end AND 200 hours out of the original OEM clutch.

So FWIW, my Honda's weren't in the same league as my KTM's. If KTM drops the ball on their product I can easily see myself going back to red or any other color for that matter. I'll always buy the best product for my needs. I don't give a shit what color it is.
Interesting read about the 200 hrs.. In 17 I considered an orange bike, but after consulting with a couple of local bike shops they told me that the KTM’s were the most worked on bikes by far.

I agree, but nobody wants to hear it. I've seen more catastrophic engine failures on KTM than anything else, by far. KTM was big in my area for quite a while, mostly due to the only moto-involved shop in town became a KTM dealer. At least a few of my friends that rode orange have horror stories and will never buy another. They can all break, but it will take everyone else going out of business for me to abondon the reliability of a Japanese bike.

Chiz since you’re close in the loop & now on a blue bike. Is JB51 running a stock engine like you ?
I’m not asking for a friend (sarcasm) I’m actually asking for the many Vitards on here who actually believe this.
Please enlighten us that a Factory team would not be running a showroom bike engine. It’s possible the team is using close to oem specs, but more than likely with factory engine components ?
BTW - Congrats to you on making the main on a relatively stock bike. Some of the manufacturers have come a long way with a showroom bike the last few years.

To be honest I really have no idea. But I would guess it is probably close to stock in terms of power and power delivery which is really good on the stock bike in my opinion. I wouldn’t doubt if they put some upgrades in there but I bet it’s close to that stock feel so barcia can ride it more aggressively. To be honest I could easily need to define the bike if it had any work done to it. I feel the stock version is really good for me. I also like to be able to ride it aggressively instead of trying to hang onto it for 20 minutes although I definitely don’t look aggressive the way barcia does haha

I'm sitting here having my coffee and wondering....I can't think of another sport where you can come on line and get real-world feedback on the sport from a current-day professional. For free. In proper English with good grammar (props to you on that Kyle!!) LOL. This is a pretty cool sport.

So, OP, what are you gonna do?

I love my Suzuki RMZ-450. Put on a pipe and Vortex piston and it rips.

Looking into buying a leftover 19 suzuki 450 for a really good price such as 5700 and i was wondering if it was worth it or if i should spend another 1200 on a yamaha or honda. Was wondering if they are really as bad as the reveiws on youtube say they are? And was gonna used the money i saved to get aftermarket pipe and suspension done anyways.

I love mine!!!
FCP engine mounts,FMF 4.1, Had Proven Moto do head mods and a PC piston picked up 8HP with VP race fuel. PC shock link and no mater who you are or what you ride your going to get the suspension done if your at all serious.

That's odd: people who ride/race them are happy?

I'm currently on the 450 SXF...yet, I still enjoy throwing a leg over the new Zook.

I was a Suzuki hater, rode a new 450 a couple weeks ago and actually liked it. Yeah it doesn’t have electric start, but was actually a lot easier to start than my yz250f.
