I just watched last 450 pre-qualifying 4 inches from my monitor. Webb fast as hell, then chops time off one 1 obstacle on purpose. This is no longer a coincidence he's sandbagging qualification timing now. Plan for him to get a top 3 again. Not a bad strategy.

In the second qualifier if you take all of Webb's best segment times his ideal lap is still only a 52.134.

I agree he is a gamer and will show up big time when it counts in the main, but I really don't think he is sandbagging.

It's all a big conspiracy for fantasy picks. He does this just to mess with us. He's so confident in winning the series he has no time to deal with silly gate picks and top qualifiers.

Why is everyone concerned about gate pick for the qualifier? He knows he's good on starts, knows he can make passes to get in the main. For the main is the only time I'd consider gate pick a big advantage.
