Would really like to see him in the mix for it. Too early to say....but he looks good.

For the guys saying that considering him a threat is jumping the gun and we should wait a few weeks ffs, I'm just appreciating what I saw. Last year I completely discounted A1 and never thought much of Barcia's chances other than A1 was a feel good story. This year everyone was healthy and he looked like he belonged with the best of the best.

Has ANY Pro put together a full season without injury. I hear ya', however, I don't know many Pro's who go the entire indoors or outdoors without injury. Of course a lot of the injuries are ridden through but as we all know, it's a brutal way to try and make a living.

I don't know if he would be the guy I'd put money on( if pressed for a choice,) but I feel like you have to take him seriously. He looked great. I think it is awesome to see him up front.

Always been a fan even in the dark times. If he rides like that again, yes he is. Especially if the rest of the contenders continue to stink it up, relatively speaking of course. Really only seemed like 3 guys gave it their all and next week should give a slightly clearer picture.

First time I’ve seen Barcia ride like the Barcia from 2014 on the Honda. This wasn’t a mudder and he killed it

I'd love to see Barcia battle for the title this year.

But going by memory, seems like more series have been won by those that don't win A1 than those that do.

Isn’t he moving up into the GPs?

Everyone who hasn't been mathematically eliminated is a title contender.

From a more realistic perspective, I'm not convinced. We've seen Barcia win before but it has never resulted in a dominant season. Let's watch three or four more rounds before we start naming champions.

The path to the title goes through Webb and AC. Everyone is a contender but you have to beat Webb and possibly AC to do it.

Who's naming champions?

I just posed the question "is he a legit threat?" Last year even after winning A1 I didn't expect him to be a contender. I don't know if I really do this year but he has me thinking.

I know it's early and all but should we pretend they aren't racing until Daytona?

That's what I said Saturday night... He reminded me of the Honda Barcia. The right level of aggression with the right confidence to get it done.

The part where Barcia REALLY rode like Barcia, was after he went off the track...then came back on and tried to either take out AC or push him REALLY wide when AC was making the LH turn. That was the A-typical Barcia dick move. He crashes, then tries to take out the guy who got around him.

They mentioned that in the post-race press conference, 250 Barcia would have t-boned him
He and AC joked about it ..

So negligible. But Barcia is the only guy in 2020 that has the ability to get added to that list.....

I think that’s the best he ever looked on a Yamaha. He needs consistent podium finishes early in the season and if he can do that and stay healthy he’ll be a threat to win the Championship

Just watching the way the guys were riding, results aside, Barcia is definately in the mix this year. Roczen and Tomac should find their feet. But AC is far and away the guy to beat for the title. In a league of his own.

Apologies, your post didn't actually call him out as the 2020 champion, stamping it or anything. Laughing

I just see posts like this that often do make hasty conclusions based on one race. I feel like A1 is not the race to base any predictions on. Let's see who's riding well at St. Louis and A2, then we can formulate contenders.

Moving "up" to the GP's? It is almost as if you are saying the GP's are a more prestigious series...

About 33% chances is not that negligible.

It is only the first race but he came in prepared and also based on the time they put on the field, almost 1 second a lap in average (except the lap he went off track), a bit like JS7 and Dungey battle in 2010, i really think he and AC will be in the mix regularly.

We may see some crazy actions as many top riders are not afraid to rub plastics (Barcia, Tomac, Webb, Anderson, Mookie, Hill, etc)

Cooper Webb won the championship last year. Think about that for a minute then tell me again why Barcia has no chance.

Because his last name is Barcia. Barcia has been a 450 SX rider for what...6 years or so? He has NEVER been a threat to win the championship at the end of the season. Not even close.

Let me watch how the next 3 rounds unfold before i call title contender. Barcia is fast but he's only won 6 of these and theyve been spread out. Barcia did look good and seemed to be closer to how he rode on 250's.

If he can stay up front and open up a lead while everyone is still figuring out their bikes then he has a real shot at winning. Most 1st round winners dont win the title, but those who hold the lead at the 1/2 mark typically win the title.

I don't know but in my book "only 6" makes you pretty freaking elite.

Legit threat doesn't mean he will win it, it just means do you think he is someone that will have to be dealt with on a weekly basis?
