Let me watch how the next 3 rounds unfold before i call title contender. Barcia is fast but he's only won 6 of these and theyve been spread out. Barcia did look good and seemed to be closer to how he rode on 250's.

If he can stay up front and open up a lead while everyone is still figuring out their bikes then he has a real shot at winning. Most 1st round winners dont win the title, but those who hold the lead at the 1/2 mark typically win the title.
Pretty sure that was his 4th win.

Good observation from:

Go watch AC’s GoPro footage. When Barcia passes him, he quickly pulls a gap and is riding very hard. The way his bike is settling into the ruts so that he can ride it aggressively i haven’t seen before. Looks like they figured some things out.

Maybe the toned down engine (Stock?) and this Suspension setup/improvement will keep him Comfortable and in the top 4 Positions!

I could see Barcia getting in some trouble with Hill if Hill keeps riding like he's on a suicide mission

What did Hill do? You can't possibly be talking about when he got into AC.

Thank you 1992 for giving us your opinion. While you are at it, what are your feelings of this McGrath kid? Do you think he can convert his 125 success to the 250 class?

I hope Barcia can stay in the title hunt. Love him or hate him, he makes the racing exciting when he's in the mix.

I was looking back at his results in the RacerX Vault earlier today, and I know those JGR years were not great in SX, but I had kind of forgot how BAD they were. Obviously he had a rough time with injuries, but man, ZERO podiums in 28 SX races on a JGR bike, and only one top 5 in those 28 races (4th A2 2015).

And yes he has 4 wins (Phoenix, Seattle 2013 plus A1 2019/2020).

I wouldn't say hes a title threat, but he can shake up the standings. For instance, he makes a pass on Webb for 1 or 2 points and that makes Webb lose the points lead. Or he cleans out Tomac and Tomac finishes 8th. Stuff like that.

I don't think anyone has to clean Tomac out for him to finish 8th.

When a broken zipper can cause a 22nd place finish all bets are off.

The part where Barcia REALLY rode like Barcia, was after he went off the track...then came back on and tried to either take out AC or push him REALLY wide when AC was making the LH turn. That was the A-typical Barcia dick move. He crashes, then tries to take out the guy who got around him.
Podium speech, Adam said something about thinking Barcia was going to kill him. LOL. But Barcia backed off at the last second.. Maybe Barcia has learned restraint? Might get him through the season!

The only way Barcia could win the championship is if he gets starts like A1 all year

That holds true for basically every rider in the field. What was Cooper Webb's biggest advantage on the field last year? Consistently great starts. What is Tomacs achilles heal? He starts like Larocco. You cannot have half ass starts and ride to the front in a field this deep.

Truly Barcia was less on my radar than Webb was last year and Barcia stamped it tonight that they will have to deal with him the rest of the year. Totally impressed with tonight's ride.

I still don't have him as my favorite (honestly I would still put him around 4th or 5th at end of year) but that is way better than I expected. I love to see him so solid and would love to be proven wrong.

I'm still standing by my statement that we need to see more races, but Barcia certainly made another good case for himself tonight. Well done, 51.

He rode great. I think him, roczen and AC are the guys. That is if AC can calm down a bit

With all due respect (now I can say whatever I want about you Laughing ) I think that's a lame take.

You are putting yourself in a no lose position. If he goes Bam Bam and is an afterthought from here out then you can say "See, I knew it." but if he puts it all together and is in the hunt all season you can say that you were giving him credit but you wanted to see a bigger sample size.

I'm not always right with my hot takes but I'm never afraid to say what I see.

He will fall apart and start bouncing off people by the end of the year.

Great to see him riding so good again. When hes not acting like a total jackass hes fun to watch.

Last night Barcia looked as impressive as he did at A1 even though he got 2nd. Roczen was just too flawless and dialed in. I definitely believe an injury is all that can keep Barcia out of contention for the title. He's still got the talent he always had, but he's got a legit, well tuned machine now that is every bit as good as any bike out there. His corner speed is insane, and that's on a Yamaha.

Barcia and Roczen have the confidence going into A2. I expect to see them both up front with the Kawi boys next weekend.

It seems like he has his starts figured out and since they are all almost the same on expanded steel that is a huge indicator of his contention. The only reason to doubt Barcia is his history everything else is on point.

Not only does he have the grate dialed, that Yamaha has the power to overcome a bad jump. He will most likely come out of most first corners no worse than 5th most races.

He is very adept at taking at turning and burning if he is anywhere near the front in the first turn. I'm stoked and super pumped for his chances this year Wink

Barcia hasn’t finished behind a Kawi boy yet and there is only 1 podium between the two of them so far.

What do you mean up front with the Kawi boys? Shouldn’t it be the other way around?
