I’ll alway remember the great battle between Brian and Broc at Saddleback in ‘79. These are my dad’s shots. I would have been standing right next to him when they were taken. Originals are sharp, I’ve taken photos of a slide projector.
Probably one of the first of the mini kids to make it in the big ranks. That’s a big thing to a kid at the time. Thinking you might be able to do it.

You have been missing out , been listening for a few years.
I originally though you had to listen to podcasts at a certain time.
Like a radio show lol.
But I'm not real tech inclined lol

The 1976 YZ80C was faster, they had to de tune it for 1977. Fun fact. I had one so I know.

Huh? I know it was baffled more, but went from a 24 to 26mm carb. Not much in it really. I had both and same hot up parts went on anyway. Don’t think I rode either stock.

My favorite was him mentioning the hardest track he ever raced, Sandy Oaks in Keithsburg, IL. My home track that I ride the most!
Not only did Brian say it was the roughest track he ever rode. He said Bob Hannah lapped up to 2nd place, and Brian said he got lapped twice. Unbelievable for a guy with his talent and speed.

A buddy of mine took this shot, must have been from the same day.

On a side note, there is a really cool pic(and story) of Jim Perry on an RM80 on mxa.

This was my FIRST dirt bike, the 1977 YZ 80. It was a great little bike, much faster than the Honda XR 75 I learned to ride on, which is also a great bike.

I lived in El Toro California 1976-1978. I saw Brian Myerscough riding a 1978 Suzuki RM 125 at Saddleback on a Sunday, PRO class, he was amazingly smooth, fluid and FAST. He was WAY ahead, I remember a jump along the road, he went into a ravine and coming back up he cut the hillside and jumped, pitched his bike sideways and landed beautifully making time there every lap. Those who had the pleasure of riding Saddleback know this spot. In his class were Jeff Ward (on a YZ BTW), very young Ricky Johnson (who crashed and was crying, bleeding, but kept going), Ron Lechein, and other local pros. I was thrilled to see Brian mop up his competition both motos.

Also was lucky enough to see Mike Bell that day, he swept the 250 class. Then he was with DG I believe, shortly after he signed with Yamaha. Loved that place, it was magic. The track was like concrete, but freshly prepped was AWESOME.
