Was watching RV documentary . Saw Malcom Stewart in a Jstar Ktm shirt and it made me think, “wtf happened to
That team”

I remember it being a rich Aussie(?) dude backing the team and they made a dope video with Malcom in Hawaii or in Aus?

Anyways fill me in boys.

They closed shop after the 2013 supercross series and I believe it was due to lack of sponsorship money.

Anyone else miss videos like this and the vurb platinum series? So cool to see unique tracks with a creative style in the video production instead of the same old videos of baked so cal tracks. There just doesn't seem to be many videos shot like this anymore. Or at least they are few and far between.

All of that stuff ends up on instagram now. Hard to spend a whole week making something like that when you need bangers every day for the fans on insta

JStar is still a sponsor of the Rocky Mountain ATV team. JDR were the Aussie guys that owned the team. Jase Malcapine who did the videos has a sick podcast.

Here is the first report back in 2013 of them starting to shut down. There was a bunch of other teams that shut down also around that time: Jeff Ward Racing, L&Mc Racing, Langston-Witt Racing

JDR KTM TEAM SHUTTING DOWN AFTER SUPERCROSS
January 22, 2013 12:30pm

"Racer X's Steve Matthes got a tip that the J-Star/JDR KTM team could be closing its doors soon, and he put in a call to Team Manager Nathan Ramsey to get confirmation. Unfortunately, Ramsey did confirm the bad news -- unless the JDR team is able to find a large additional sponsor, they will soon be forced to close the doors.

The team will compete to the end of this Monster Energy Supercross season with Malcolm Stewart, Joey Savatgy and Josh Cachia. But the team was scheduled to race the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship as well, and the team will now not be able to continue beyond the Vegas SX finale in May. We have heard that the team's budget issues do not come from sponsorship troubles, but rather from its original investors, who have had investment troubles elsewhere and are no longer able to fund the racing effort. Obviously, if a high dollar sponsor were to swoop in and take up the slack, JDR could continue to race, and Ramsey says they would welcome that opportunity."
