I screwed up the other day on dnr. I set a limit buy at $1 and it kept getting to 1.01 but popping back to 1.08. So I cancelled and decided to do half at 1.05 and set half at 1.00. Well I woke up late and never submitted it and it hit 1.00 early then was like. 1.12 bouncing. So I got the 1.05 buy but still waiting on 1$ price. I know it seems like a trivial amount but it adds up depending on # of shares. I am going to buy at the lowest number today which could get to $1 in case some news comes out this weekend.
Been buying Abbvie up and about to start strengthening that position more. I loaded my VYM position first thing when I opened these accounts and it has been doing very well.

Here's a pretty good breakdown of the last decade

Shiff makes lots of predictions. Some come true some don't. Where I do agree with him is with regards to government debt coupled with extended periods at sub normal interest rates like what we are experiencing now. When we have another recession, the Fed will be out of arrows and the only thing left is fiscal policy meaning stimulus meaning drastically increasing the debt. Shiff could very well be right that this time the Fed won't be there to save us.

Same here, but I've bought more and am currently at $3.97 average. Probably just throwing more money away.

I assume that is what happens but I'm new at this so I really don't know.

I think his predictions have been pretty solid. It's the timing that is tough.

Go watch his interviews from 06 where he straight up said the subprime mortgage market is going to crash the financial system. It's funny seeing all the "experts" called him crazy on that one. Just like today they brought up the "historically low unemployment" as proof that all is well. Go check history, we always go into recessions at full employment.

They say that we're much better off since then but the financial system could only handle up to 2.25% fed funds rate before melting down last December, it was at 5.25% in 2007. That interest rate nowadays would crash the system overnight.

He now thinks there's a looming sovereign debt crisis followed by a currency crisis. With the fed cutting rates again, the repo market melting down and the fed bringing back QE I'd say it ain't far off. It ain't exactly like 07/08 but damn it rhymes.

Stocks haven't gone anywhere in nearly 2 years so I don't know how much more upside people think is out there.

I did for a little while. Lost a lot more than I gained. It's too risky for me. I started just buying and selling stocks for free with Robinhood.

Have you ever played blackjack? If you don't know what you are doing with stock options you will be better off at the blackjack table.

I know just enough to think I know what I’m doing and get myself into trouble Tongue

I feel like I should temporarily sell off a bunch of my TSLA stock today. I am pretty sure it's going to tank tomorrow night. When I look back on this post on Thursday the stock is currently at $257.80 for reference.

So I saw what I considered a no brainer. With the fires going crazy in California and all the issue's with PG@E power company there I saw the stock price plummeting. Also there was talk of bankruptcy and other companies taking over but I looked and no institutions had sold them. It dropped to around $4 and I dropped a nice chunk into it and in 2 days it's been climbing fast since they restored power to most. Its at around 6.50 now and debating on when to cash out. Similar situation as hurricanes here really.
Hate to capitalize on a horrible event though and my heart goes out to all affected it just popped out to me while studying the market trends.

I am still holding out on selling pg@e, it's might beat $8 today. Almost loaded it up this morning when it was climbing so fast. Its $2 more a share than I had planned to exit already. Getting out today at some point though.

I'm out. I'm changing my investment strategy.

I'm going with a small cap, mid cap and large cap fund and calling it good. I'll let some fund manager lose sleep at night.

My previous strategy of buying high and selling low doesn't work so well.

Well der. The fed is injecting a hundred billion dollars a day into the repo markets, buying hundreds of billions of dollars of debt in the past few weeks, as well as lowering interest rates making borrowing cheaper so companies can borrow more to buy back their own stock and pump up the prices. The fed is keeping the party raging for now.

Man it's going to be a killer hangover.

I'm not saying stocks won't keep going up for now, but there will be a price to pay for all the printing and manipulation, and this economic cycle is looking really long in the tooth. The price will be paid to the dollar and all paper assets. Remember, the Venezualen stock market went up like a million percent as the peso started run away inflation, it's just that you get paid in those pesos, which became virtually worthless.

Trying to time the stock market is pretty much impossible though.

After the killer play last week and pretty much doubling my money in one portfolio. I took a few k of profits and loaded them into Disney today before they launch the streaming deal on the 11th. I am not sure if it is a good play or not but worth a shot. I do think starwars land was a bad idea even though I loved Star Wars growing up. To niche. But the streaming should be money because parents will pick Disney over Netflix for the kids.

I also have an uneasy feeling. Multiple reasons.

Idk, but the news on that stock doesn't look good.
Stock trading is mostly a "winter sport" for me.
I'm not an expert.

What is the play on this Schwab and Td Ameritrade merger?
I panicked and set a market buy for both today and also dumping more funds into Abbvie.

I don't know what to think of it. I started out trading with Scottrade who got bought out by TD Ameritrade which I am still on who is now getting bought out by Charles Schwab. I'm happy with TD Ameritrade, especially since they dropped the trade fees.
