I still have a VHS from the Gally riding school we did with him explaining that (lever position and elbows) hahaha. I've gotta bust out all the equipment so I can upload some cool old footage... Greg Nicholson was there and I didn't even realise he rode in the states until a few weeks ago, Daytona '94 was where I saw him. Just checked The Vault and he got 18th at Tampa. Pretty sure it's the same dude?

My ‘02 RM was the first bike that I bought instead of my old man. I loved that bike and still regret selling it.I learned how to really ride on that machine. Looking back I was such a squid when I first got it, haha damn good times.

Laidley is an old cow paddock now, gates and tower are still there but have been vandalized. I just found this thread trying to find old Ipswich Laidley pics.. that straight used to have sawdust and oil mixed...good days!

The fist few are laidley the last few are wheel standers I have some of the carrols track in towoomba and a few of gundawindi but none of trailblazers or reedy creek. Wish I had videos of reedy creek tripple and the gundy canyon.

I did the Aussie titles there in the 80’s was a wicked event that Anthony Gonert pretty much cleaned up. I loved that track the up and down hills the big jump to table top was awesome and the long start straight into the first left were so good.

Great pics Thanks ! Couple pics from the horse shoe corner I can see.. I will try and find some pics of my own...The Aussie titles were 3 days I think ? I remember Goondawindi and the canyon jump ! That seemed huge when I was 15 yrs old ! Carrols track was a good track too, I rode a Gall school there in 91 and blew my kx 125 clutch up on the first day,I went home and picked up my old xr 250 and rode it on Sunday, had a ball ! Quinten Carrol rode the xr, he would have only been 6 or 7 ! I had to hold the bike up for him ! Those Carrols were quick ! The Go Show would blitz everyone !

Yeah was a 3 day event I made the finals Smile was stoked got about 16th I think. I also did mike hatchers flat track Aussie titles on a Fit for MX bike had a knobby up front but they made us put a semi slick on the back lol suspension set up for mx up high and a 48 tooth on the back. Smile got 11th in the finals so was stocked with that too was never quite fast enough to win at those.... I saw Troy and quinton ride but never Arron. Use to chase their sister round the pits sandy lol

Raced against the go show a few times and one of his first races on a 125 at gundy... man he was quick the canyon was scary on an 80 but a breeze on 125 but still a massive jump

Certainly were; some of the best riders in the world at the time, Gally, Leisky & co on 500s would take it to them. 40 minute motos from memory? 1000s of spectators too. Those days will never be repeated

My '81 RM125 was my favorite bike of all time. It was a massive jump forward in tech and performance... Motor was ok stock, but was a fire breather after Rudy and Dean Dickinson from R&D worked it over. I did burn a water pump during the qualy race at Hangtown in '81. Sad

Heres present, currently a sporadic weekend warrior... Tempted to get restyle kit but would lose the DC Travis double backflip graphics in the process...? Thats also a DR350 in homage to the Mondo Enduro guys (if you know, you know)

Heres RM I owned in late 90s, looked cool but was a piece of shit that pretty much stopped me riding MX at the time. Saved up for it from age 14-17, bought it and it was a turd and huge disspointment. Every session something went wrong so started riding BMX instead...

A practice day, and lazy teenage Simon didn’t put the side number plates on. (You can bet the 4 air cleaners are clean though!)



About 2 years ago, Green Park, Connondale, QLD. Old Simon is not quite as fat as he looks - all the “armour” is underneath the retro Fox Jersey

Near past. An '02. Bought it in '18, just sold it this spring to pay off my KTM. Loved the handling. I didn't put the spoke skins on. Don't judge. I didn't take 'em off either.
