What enduro/dual sport should i buy?

Hey guys! 

I will be getting a dual sport/enduro soon after i take my licence and would like know and see what kind of bikes that you guys think are the best!

Im 5'10, 138 lbs! Not much weight, but im super strong. I have never ridden a motorcycle or anything with gears but that maybe doesnt matter much since i will learn how to when i take my license!?
My plan is to ride 80% road and 20% offroad!

Start small and cheap, see how it goes and then consider something nicer.

Never ridden ? A Yamaha XT250 is about the most friendly and easiest to ride dual sport you will find. Plus they're fairly inexpensive.

There can be quite a difference between an enduro, and a dual sport.

Hey!! Thx for replying and recommendation!Smile Sadly im from Sweden and that bike isnt avalible here :/ do you know any other bikes? Dual sport and Enduro both works, i dont know the difference!

Get at least 350cc if u plan on alot of road miles. Plus it may be all the bike u ever need depending on the model. Hard to beat a ktm 350 excf for your described use. It'll be a bit much at first, but something like an xt250 is even heavier, slower, and less well suspended along with poorer brakes, none of which is actually conducive to safer on road riding. Also, resale on ktms is pretty good if u decide to upgrade or quit.

I picked up this bike this spring, no it's not the most manly bike out there, but it's light easy to ride with the wife and kids in the woods and street legal, It tops out at about 73 mph with me being 230 lbs. I have done a few dual sports on it this year and had a blast. I use to have a dr650 but it just got to weigh to much for me.

Patric, as a first time buyer you should absolutely check out the Honda CRF250L

Den er tilgjengelig I Sverige.

It will give you a much better introduction to off-road than a full fledged competition enduro bike and be safer as a first bike.

Thinking back, I am not sure I ever felt as free from bs as when I was 17, worked for a brick mason, and rode my '76 dt 175 every where.

25 degrees in the morning? better wear good gloves and a scarf (open face helmet).

Raining? Unstrap the Kmart rains it from the rack.

Hey, I wonder where that road/trail/rr track goes?

Break down? Either push or bum a tow to home or a payphone.

My suggestions are,

Buy something simple and reliable. Something that is not going to cost hundreds of dollars to fix every time you clip a tree or the ground.

Something you can get a manual for and work on yourself.

And enjoy what I sincerely believe is still the purest form of motorycling.

That is why I got the crf230l , I suck in the woods, and I toss it on the ground a lot and did not want water cooling running out. + I ride a lot by myself so it's just one less thing that can break.

Thank you bud! Just saw some videos about the bike and its nice stuff about it! Top speed of 80 mph that will work. Only thing i dont like is the looks of it. I Will put in my bike list, thank you sirSmile

First bike? I would recommend something like a Honda 250L, the Yami 250, etc.... Enough power to achieve highway speeds, but not a ton of power to make it is easy to learn to ride.... Affordable... Long maintenance schedule, and enough suspension to have some fun...

The Suzi drz400 is a step up in power and suspension... More power to keep up on the highway, but still docile enough to be easy to learn on..... The next step up from there would be something like the beta 500, which is legit fast off road, and fast until it runs out of gearing on pavement...

Nice bro, the 500 must be dope and the drz would had been a good one. Unfourtinate that bike is not avalible here in Sweden.. how would a 350 be you think?

Just get a ktm 350xc, and be done with it. Best advice ur gonna get. No, an xt won't be better. In fact it is likely u would outgrow it's capability within a span of a few months. The xc is a real dirt bike, light and fast. Cars running u down from behind sucks on the road, on a 250 get used to that. A 350 will be able to safely maintain 65 mph withouth revving it til it's gonna blow. Even a drz400, the weight alone makes it a pretty terrible off road bike. Look up the weights of these bikes. Lighter is better ....
