Yamalube recommended oil was used. Never broke a clutch disk before, in 400+ hrs. Was ridden in sand the day it happened.

We broke a clutch disk at 23 hrs, 1 hr after changing oil. Disk gummed up the oil and starved top end of oil resulting in new cylinder and exhaust cam. Took it to our local dealer because it started ticking and they found the damage, and scolded me for never changing oil even though I told them otherwise. Anyways, they fixed the top end and gave it back with the broken clutch disk. Repaired clutch myself after getting scolded for nothing from dealer. .5 hrs later it stopped running this time. Kind of acts like there is a rag in the airbox and every time you twist throttle it dies like it sucked the rag up. It's been at a different dealer for 4 weeks now, still no word wtf is going on. First time Yamaha, will NEVER buy one again.

Clutch abuse. Plain and simple. What kind of oil were you running???

No way a plate breaks under normal wear and tear.
You either don't use your clutch at all or are extremely naive.
I have seen clutch disks break on the first ride. In matter of fact im going to name the parts I've seen break on bikes that were owned for less then a month. clutch plates basket hub springs kick starter electric starters and battery. Pistons rod rod bearing, miss aligned oil passage for crank toasted the whole motor(ask Ryan Hughes about that one he knows all to well cost him a moto win when he was a privateer. My kx250f Frames snapped in half on the 5th ride.
Cdi fried, the kill dwitch common with 14-18yzf line I've seen shocks and forks brand new no oil in the legs cartridge or body. Plenty of wheels all brands makes modles. Point being it all breaks it happens

Yep. Parts is parts. Been on Yamaha's since Aug 2000 when I got my first YZ250F. Still have several of the older bikes. Should have said Timex on them. I have an 07 with over 600 hours. One full rebuild, and one top end.
Getting ready to redo my 17 250F and make it a 270 It has 102 hours on it, motor never apart. Checked valves at 48 hours, and still spot on.
And every time I buy a bike, new or used, it comes completely apart to make sure its correct when it goes back together. I'm not a real fan of OE lubes.

Thanks. I'll check that out. You might be onto something here because afterwards i threw my battery tender on it and it instantly went to charging mode not storage mode as if the battery was dead. I'll check tonight to see if it's dead when i get home. How irritating, brand new back and battery might be dead, c'mon Yamaha!

Yamaha doesn't design or manufacture the battery.
If the OEM battery sucks, it's Yamaha's fault.

I have been running the Shorai batteries for years and they are amazing and I have never had to charge a single one.

Kids 2019 yz250f- at about 30 hours difficult starting, never was as good as our 18 yz450f, one valve little tight, new battery- tusk. Has always been a bit shy of oil on changes. Seemed to help but within couple hours same. Spark plug black, some smoke(and using oil). Has always ran well once started. Reading posts- saw several regarding poor piston /ring seal on this model. Put in new top end- starting much better. Valves/cylinder in great shape. Noticed pros starting after open throttle hold(no button) for second or 2, and then start, seems to be the trick. Oil levels holding between changes. My 18 Yz450f- 55 hours- besides battery upgrade- starts with quick tap every time. I see all different makes at track with starting issues. Would buy both again.

I had the same issue with mine. I bought a new battery and it was fine.

We have just only had minor plug issues on our 19. Idle set a tad too low and would foul a plug on first startup if the bike stalled. Bumped it up just a bit and no more issues. Other than a hose fitting coming loose and losing all of its coolant for 3-6 minutes of riding its been problem free lol. Its been about 8 hours since the coolant fiasco, zero problems.
