I do love it for when I ride at the trails built on our capped landfill. Rip the climb to the top and enjoy the downhills then repeat over and over for a good time!
Anyway I’ve got nothing to prove. I’ve rode and raced mtb’s for 30 years and climbed enough trails on my own for 5 lifetimes.
Hell, I didn’t get into off road riding to get fit any way. I just wanted to ride my dirt bike. I found that out later.

btw: how about an e-chair? power assist off road wheelchair, im down!
I'm not gonna get into this on a mx forum
The bright side with the speed limiter it’s not as though they are going to get more powerful or faster. I ride mainly on Eco anyway.
I just turned 59 this week, and I’m having more fun than ever on my bike. That’s what it’s all about for me.

The amount of assistance is completely tunable – in both torque and peak output.
We never know when it will be our last ride.
But can we stop with this "The only people who hate on e-bikes are the guys who never rode one" bullshit?
What IF... someone had ridden them and still hated them? What IF... some people enjoy climbing? What IF... it didn't mean shit if you covered 25 miles vs 20 in the same amount of time?
Either 1) You are on trails that were never intended to be climbed on a bicycle, 2) Your legs are not strong enough, or 3) The trail is supposed to be so difficult that only the strongest make it to the summit, thus someone riding to the top on a motor bicycle defeats the purpose and prestige associated with the climb.
I do not care one way or the other about the Alta, and apparently neither did most of the population otherwise they would still be in business.
There is a lot of cognitive dissonance associated with people who ride electric bikes. If they want to be seen and respected as a cyclist, then be one. But, claiming to be a cyclist while being propelled to the top with an external energy source more closely resembles a motorcyclist than a cyclist.
TLDNR: those things are fast as fuck. guy who passed me on one looked like the most exercise he gets is walking to his car every morning and he just straight up ditched me on an uphill technical trail.
At least he didn't look over at you and say "you're working too hard" or "tough climb, huh?"
