I got shredded around 3-4 weeks before Red Bud last year for posting that it looked like we were going to have a mud race... Well, it happened. I hope I am wrong this time. Assen looks like it could be nasty if it rained.

I guess we'll open the flood gates (discussion) and let the down votes flow.... Wink

Here is the current forecast.

I saw a weather forecast yesterday that said dry all weekend. 19 degrees C on Sat and 20 Sunday. Every day you look it’ll tell you something different, and it most likely won’t be right. The weather will be what it will be. If it does rain, the track will take a bit and the racing should be good either way

Bottomless sand doesn't stand a chance against biblical levels of rain.

So you're saying the bottomless sand has a bottom?

No no, it's really bottomless... Look, the water soaks in and just disappears.

0% of chance that it will be a mudder. No matter how much it rains or snows

Wet sand is fun to ride. It's gonna be rough though.

It’s all sand, whooped out sand, all the time around here. Wet sand is glorious.

Still a week and a half away, too early to call for a mudder.

That’s exactly what I was told about Red Bud... Turns out I was right.

Anyone who rides deep sand knows that wet sand equals a must ride day! The traction is night and day different.

If you live in N. Florida/S. Georgia, you know they can't reliably forecast tomorrow...let alone next week...or ten years. Yet, I just heard Miami has three years until it is swallowed by the Atlantic. I wouldn't be too concerned with the MXoN. Flip a coin and guess. You'll be just as accurate as the weather guessers.

Bottomless Sand ............ it ain't Lommel.

As said, the tarmac of the Road Race Track, and of the Pit areas is just beneath the Sand they plonk down to make the 'Pop Up' track, so it sure as shit isn't remotely bottomless.I hope they have the brains / budget to make the sand deeper (where it's put down on top of tar / cement) than it has been in previous GPs at Assen.

Press516's picture shows how the water sits on the tar/ concrete base..........

The bizarre thing that I saw with the first GP there, was water, seemingly 'hydraulic-ing' out of the tops of the whoops on the straight next the the RR pits. When it wasn't raining, there was water oozing / pumping from the top of the whoops. I'd guess it was the fact the water had pretty much nowhere to go, plus the slamming of the bikes into the whoops. Still, it remains one of the strangest things I've seen. Huh

Good for you... Some if us as fans of the sport find the "conditions" something of interest.

It was quite wet in 2016 at Assen. Bikes blowing up from over heating and riders getting stuck. See below.
