Wow. Never heard that before. How original. In what mxon have all the riders NOT ridden the same track? This isn't about them riding different tracks and it's not just about the riders. It's about the fans and having to watch a muddy shit show when it isn't necessary. People want to see RACING and to be able to identify their riders on the track and what position they're in. Stating this isn't whining, so give that b.s. a rest. And turn your spell check feature on or something, for shit's sake
At both of the last two nations I never had any trouble identifying any of the riders and the racing was fine, all the jumps were being done. It wasn’t like either of them were wheels on the ground slop fests

That is a good point. Tarp the damn thing at least. Where the water runs off tarps into channels, pump it out of there. Do SOMETHING since teams and riders from all over the world are spending huge money to come race this event. No need in it being worse than it has to be.
I don't think they should hold the event in parts of the world where it's most likely to rain it's ass off that time of year. 3 mxon muddy shit shows in a row now 🙄
So like a Motocross Of Dry Nations then.

FFS I never heard as much whinging about a venue and it’s idiosyncratic characteristics.
The MXON is a special event about people and coming with a mixture of national pride and support for your riders and interacting with individuals from different cultures and backgrounds that you never would have experienced other wise.
The whether and track conditions just makes for different memories. Assen is man made and wouldn’t be my first choice either but the facilities should be better and good vantage points. How about judgment after the event and only by the ones who attended.

True. My point is that this mxon has the potential to be a slop fest. Hopefully it won't be, but I think everything that can be done to keep water off the track as much as possible SHOULD be done. Especially when there is so much of it and weather forecast shows that it's going to continue. I'm not disagreeing with you, but how does what you've said make my opinion wrong?

Mud, the great equalizer.
Not really. The Hoff is a mud specialist (remember Indonesia and Red Bud?)

My current assessment is some good qualifying races on Saturday and possibly some ugly on Sunday....

But, it's racing. And you race, rain or shine... I'm old, but I've been there. And this weekend? I'd rather be in Assen watching it, no matter what.

Been a lovely day at the track today. About half an hour of rain so far although the skies have been dark all day. Have to say, the track looks perfect, walked a bit of the track and it could certainly take a lot more wet. Can’t wait for tomorrow

This is great to hear. Thanks man. Hopefully the rain stays scattered enough to keep everything moist , will be some epic racing.

Some pictures from the track today. Have to say I think they have done a very good job. Being here I have to say I have a better understanding and appreciation for why they decided to have the event here. I think the track looks great and should provide some very good racing over the course of the weekend

The biggest issue will probably be vision/goggle issues instead of track conditions... especially for the 250 riders who are going to be eating 450 roost for 30 minutes straight

What they said on the radio today is that there is a chance we have the first fall storm this sunday with rain and gusts of wind going up to 100km/h...

Unfortunately, this is the radar forecast... It looks like you might be right, I hope not.

Track is absolutely perfect right now. 125 Blu Cru on track. 1:53 lap time for those too so lap has decent length to it

The worst weather seems to come towards the end of racing. Hopefully it can stay out until the last race

I said the same thing after I attended the GP there. I get the point why they go to places like that. And the track is pretty good at Assen. Everyone should atleast attend it before just bashing it.

And since someone is gonna read what they want and say I think there should be more races like Indonesia or Turkey or China, those shitholes have nothing to do with a worldclass facility like Assen.

It's interesting how you can say that people should go to a track before bashing it... Yet you bash Turkey and China without having been.

Both of those tracks have excellent facilities and pretty much every rider really liked the China track.
