Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
- Better feeling in general while riding / jumping
- Better graphics
- Better terrain deformation and the ruts can make a difference
- Stronger / smarter AI
- 4 different types of view (3rd person: close / far, 1st person: handlebars / goggles)
- You can use tear offs
- When someone crashes the marshalls actually wave their yellow flags
All in all, I think it looks pretty darn good.
What people tend to forget is that MX is a very difficult sport to translate to a game. In real life there are so many factors wich effect your riding (weather, soil, clutch control, throttle control, jumping etc.), that's almost impossible to recreate 100% accurate on a digital platform.
I'm just grateful they make an effort to make these games. This type of MX-game is the kind I dreamt about when I was a kid, playing Jeremy McGrath Supercross 2000, Championship Motocross ft. Ricky Carmichael or the Motocross Madness-franchise.
Do I need to order my cancelled preorder?
The good:
- The AI is awesome. You can block pass them, and they hit the brakes/stop. They dont blow you off the track like MVA. Very good improvment overall
-The graphics. Badass
- Ruts. They ACTUALLY do have ruts and they work well for the most part. not quite as good as MVAs, but Im sure they will get better
- Being able to sign on real teams is rad
- Tracks. The scaling seems super close and the obstacles look and feel correct vs. watching on TV.
- Seems to load MUCH faster (in single player mode, cant speak for online play)
The bad/can be improved:
- Sound - The only bike that seems to sounds any type of real is the FC450. The KX250 sounds and feels like a KLX110. So wack.
- Traction. I get what they were going for in MXGP Pro, basically to have some skill to take a turn fast, thus making the rider slow down, settle into the turn, then accelerate out... like in real life. But, this new update, makes the rider sort of powerslide the whole way out of a turn and halfway down the straight. Sure, in real life, if we held a 450 WFO from the beginning of a turn, some wild stuff will happen. But this seems a bit overboard.
- Jumps. Like mentioned above, they seem smaller than in real life. And the bikes feel weighted. As if the gravity is off or something to that affect.
-Bike graphic kits, jersey lettering, gear. Come on.
Pit Row
I would recommend this game to people.
What it boils down to is this, for me, at least. You almost need both games to get all the needed elements in a moto game. Both do some elements superbly and both fail at other elements miserably. And yes, it would be cool if they combined forces but I HIGHLY doubt that happens.
Let me explain my thoughts.
All Out has the best physics (talking console) and ruts and deformation. By far!! Also best replica tracks with the new Nationals as well as camera customization which is important to me. But All Out kinda sucks at single player mode as the AI is senseless most of the time and nothing makes sense, results wise. So, like in Madden, you play against Brady, he puts up numbers, throughout the season. In MVA, it's all just complete random shit. I've asked for years for the AI to be ratings based. Nothing. It often just turns into one off races on different tracks. This could be solved with leagues that keep up with everything but if you're looking for like a MLB The Show experience in MX, well despite some awesome replicas now, that experience is def not in All Out. I came from a hockey gaming background and worked with Treyarch on ideas for NHL2K2 and 2K3 pretty deeply so I'm always seeking that single player greatness in this sport. I know, it's not there yet.
Also, it's often just hard to simply race in All Out. The AI is too reckless and, again, random. The physics and ruts may be better but the racing often isn't unless you are human player only, maybe online. Single player its pretty weak despite having awesome tracks now with the replica Nationals. And spinning laps is cool for some but I either like racing or I like an adventure like I get with Dakar. I just can't spend 2 hours going around a 2 minute lap multiple times. That's just me. It's also why I pretty much suck in the real sport.
MXGP 2019 has the best single player mode (by far) and AI you can actually race against. Much better in that regard. And even multi player the racing seems better. The whole experience seems real and there is much more depth to their games in trying to and accomplishing recreating the authentic licensed series. Which, again, I love. They do come close to capturing that MLB The Show/2K-ish thing for MX. But the ruts are pretty nonexistent, especially compared to All Out. It also seems a bit underscaled jump wise.
And yeah, for those that care, the whips suck. I don't really care about them but I do want good movement which I think it is ok at. The racing is more important to me. What bugs me is that back before they tried to do "free whipping", like back in 2, I liked the method way better as the right stick was for leaning and weighting the outside peg which is way more important in actual racing than whipping. The way it is now, the whips still suck and if you touch the right stick to weight anything you fall over. It's horrible to not be able to weight the outside peg with your right stick rider weight. Bad design choice. I would also like to see Milestone do something about the constant sliding in corners. I like that you have to let off then roll on the throttle but it sometimes is just pretty slick. Then again, I haven't touched the sliders. But for the most point, I really enjoy the gameplay here as it feels like racing and that is the focus.
Overall, yes, I prefer 2019 to Pro and 3. There are still some aspects of 2 that I prefer though, such as the aforementioned inability to use the right stick to weight the outside peg.
As far as some new things to 19, well I haven't tried the track editor yet. I was excited to try to build some hard enduro-ish tracks in the new Waypoint mode but between the physics basically not letting you do hardly any serious climbing and a lack of good enduro obstacles and forests, etc its just not really in the cards. It's just some neat trail riding. I get it. It's an MXGP game. I was just hoping. I'll continue to play Dakar for my endurance and super high concentration and intelligent navigating fix.
But all in all, good job, Milestone. Not groundbreaking but an improvement over the last two games in this series.
I also do not like how there is no separation with the AI riders. If you make a mistake you get group passed by 4 or 5 AI riders. Like a couple of others have said I don’t see why they cannot make the jumps more like they are at the real tracks. They can make a compound track with nice big jumps but not on the actual tracks?
Hope they add more features to the track editor and allow elevation changes. They should make that a free upgrade to this version. We could have some epic tracks if they did this.
Some nice upgrades but still a lot of the same old things people have been complaining about with every release. I still think they do the Supercross game better.
P.S The bike feels like I'm dragging an anchor about and the scaling on the jumps is poor. How can some of you be pumped on this?
