Team USA - Kawi told Adam No

I’m sure Kawi and AC have more important things to worry about than a wildly expensive to attend exhibition race.
Whats more important than showcasing yourself and your sponsors to the fans of the biggest watched race in the world??

Some of you dudes can't grasp the concept of the whole 'sponsor' & 'advertising' thing can you..

Isn't the team heavily sponsored by Monster? And the event Heavily sponsored by Monster??
You'd think between them a certain portion of the monies would be set aside for this prestigious event. The Whole world wants to see team USA Race in Europe. If that means Monster sponsored bike sin the Monster sponsored event thats winning on all levels isn't it??

Correct, no need to go and get destroyed, not good for the merican company branding considering the caliber of MX2 riders Kawa will have from Europe to show off thier equipment

You dont spend a million dollars in marketing to make a million dollars. The ROI isnt there. Kawasakis marketing team knows it. No point in sending them over.

1- They won't be spending a Million dollars.

2- If they go & win, (WIN not essential, but if they represent well) they will capture the hearts of thousands and thousands of bike buying fans all across the world, who may well be kawasaki fans for life and buy multiple motorcycles. The result, is way more than a million.

KTM built and sold bikes for years, even making losses. Look how its worked out so far. Manufacturers must invest in order to retain or gain market share.

Ok you dont spend $5 to make $5. Kawi isnt in the business of breaking even.

You dont invest in things that have a high chance of losing money. Thats basic.

You're correct, they're in the business of making money. And to make money you must showcase your wares.

They're not doing that by leaving the bikes at home are they?

I disagree Richard, Lommel and Lierop are different than Assen. Assen is a fine withe sand as Dunkerque or le Touquet. Assen the sand is bring from the beach. It's totally different than Lommel or an another typical dutch sand track.

Just as well, Coldenhoff would've ripped that FMOTP title off Tomac for the second consecutive year.

He thinks either could have forced the issue if they wanted.

I'm betting Kawi isn't too thrilled AC got on a podcast and threw them under the bus. I'd imagine this could impact sales a little on the mx bike side. Us American's are very passionate about the MXoN and a brand flat telling one our best riders "we won't support you" can't look to good.

Or AC isn't going to be with kawi next year and doesn't care

youre statement about the sand in Assen is not true , its not beach sand .. the sand is from a miltary practice ground nearby and is not even close to real beach sand .just sand like we have a lot in the netherlands

track is different , agree with you on that part as its man made and there is no base layer like in Lommel and Lierop .

you know where Assen is located ? the beach is a long way for 1100 truck rides full of sand Wink

What if AC doesn't sign with Kawi for the 450 and he stays down another year or even... Decides a fresh start with another team on a 450?

I told everyone AC wasn't going weeks ago but nobody wanted to listen, there is a person at Kawi that doesn't like the MXDN and as long as he's in charge it is doubtful that any Kawi riders will go.
Also the team is as I stated in another thread...
Justin Cooper, Zacko and Anderson...unless something unforeseen happens...

Adam has been wanting to represent the United States since he was a kid and now he finally (knock on wood) wins a title and they're going to deny that from him? OK

How do we know they didn’t? Are we really supposed to trust the guy that has hopped from team to team because he can’t get what he wants?

Seriously does anyone actually talk to mccread or does he just try to find and lift (and possibly alter) quotes from other sources ?

Amen. There are only 2 possible outcomes from said scenario: AC/Tomac look bad or Kawi looks bad. Might as well assign blame where blame is due. If Kawi made a business decision, ok, let them take ownership of their decision/explain their logic and if that results in a hit to their bottom line, then maybe they’ll recalculate next time around. Shouldn’t be up to their EMPLOYEES to fall on the sword and take the blame for a decision that was out of their control.

For the record, if reverse were true and they had the green light but chose not to accept for personal reasons, then same logic should apply in reverse.

i.e. the decision holder should own the fall out.

You're the specialist, my bad. Lierop, Valken, Lommel it's typical black sand for me. Assen looks like a fine white beach sand on TV.

Not sure but I believe it was Webb's decision to bow out if selected.
