I hope it's just a sep shoulder for AC222 ... best possible outcome of that wreck.

Crazy weekend for the mxgp. Man bummed for Tony and Jeffrey. That 250 racing was good and close too.

Since the End of the SX series it seems like KTM can’t buy a break in the 450s. The KTM Boys are getting killed in the outdoors stateside and AC has been making little mistakes costing him and now a big one which may have taken him out of the title chase and Herlings lasts three motos.

Desalle out , Herlings out and now Tony ?? thats last years top 3 out for season
Crazy sport and MXGP class today. Agreed and Gajser has had bigger crashes than Cairoli, Herlings and Desalle all year, even a big one in Latvia and he is still okay and looking like winning the title now. Cairoli and Herlings been very unlucky this year.

Gajser's just been incredible thus far - tbh the complete opposite of what I would've predicted after Argentina. He looks not only blazingly fast and smooth but also cool and calculating in his decision making. He's really taken the pressure to Tony this season. Of course it's still along way and anything can happen etc, but yeah, absolutely amazing so far in 2019 and great to have him back at the top of his game.

What kind of money is a MXGP title for the 450 Champion?

The Cairoli crash that took him out of the race today:

Dislocated shoulder could be so many things.. he could be up to speed next weekend or weak for month or more. He been lucky this year with many close calls as he been pushing speed with Gajser. First race he was so close to crashing too many times also. Lets hope he can return, if that needs surgery that could be the end for his will to get that 10th title.

Just watched the race, and shut if off after AC222 crashed. Gutted for that man. Of all the series this year, Tony was the only guy I really wanted to win a title this year, .. So BUMMED for him.

Hopefully it's not too serious. He was holding his arm like I did when I broke my clavicle, but I guess it could be anything..

450 First Moto best laptime: 1:56.465 Cairoli
250 First Moto best laptime: 1:55.939 Prado

450 Second Moto best laptime: 1:56.103 Gajser
250 Second Moto best laptime: 1:54.604 Prado

How's that possible? Was the track groomed before 250s starts or would Prado beat all of the 450s with the 250 on a one lap race?

Because more horsepower is not necessarily an advantage on a flat track...hillside tracks is where the 450 has the advantage over the 250.

Because the track gets more detoriated when MXGP goes out...

If you want to compare:

450 first moto: 17 laps in 34min 02sec (Herlings)
250 first moto: 17 laps in 34min 06sec (Prado)

450 second moto: 18 laps in 35min 56sec (Gajser)
250 second moto: 18 laps in 35min 45sec (Prado)

This is, ofcourse, a very small margin. In the past GP's the difference was way bigger, in the advantage of the 450s.

The track is significantly rougher once the MXGP class gets out.

Compare the next to last lap in MX2 (Since last lap some people who arent in a fight are cruising to finish) and the first full lap in MX1.

250 first moto best laptime lap 16: 1.58.959 Prado
450 first moto best laptime lap 2: 1.56.465 Cairoli

250 second moto best laptime lap 17: 1.58.051 Geerts
450 second moto best laptime lap 2: 1.56.218 Seewer.

I remember back in the day there were times where the 125 class would have better laptimes than 250, on some really hardpack tracks.

But like DeStouwer said, the gap is overall much smaller now. Just look at the MXoN and how well Prado and Lawrence did on a 250 against all the 450s, and that was on a fairly sandy, wet and heavy racetrack with LOTS of hills.

250s makes tons of power these days.
450s makes way too much power these days.

250's had both turns before the wave section and the wave section itself freshly groomed.

A 450 wears you out quicker in comparison with a 250 ( even for pros ) and the 250 is a little more nimble in comparison with a 450 ( which can be helpful when the track gets rougher ( beatenup ) later on in the moto (2) sand and hills is adifferent story... however, you see the same trend over and over ( on both sides of the ocean ) on some tracks the top 250s are faster.

Prado´s bike is light and has so strong motor that stock 450 are left behind. That with light talented rider with smoother track will make good laptimes. People say 450 are too powerfull but same goes to 250 also.

Geerts and Kjer Olsen were topping the 450s also.

I'd like to see a final mixed moto, similar to the Italian championship or the mx of nations.

i couldn't even guess as to the reason why/how they came to that decision, but that is what they have said
The only thing i can think of is that as he approached the jump he was unsighted by other riders.. i didnt see any flags on TV until the shot after the jump, and he had maybe 4 guys in his eyeline between him and the flags... he did check up , but too late for 'wheels on the ground' and he didnt clear the jump fully.. and at that point he looked over to the flaggers... it was a great ride either way.

I just rewatched the motos.

Am i the only one that thinks Cairolis bike looked horrible compared to the other riders bikes? His backend kicked around a lot already in moto 1.
