Helping my dad look for an enclosed trailer. He has a 4.8L v8 in his silverado so it cant pull a “real” big trailer. Currently we have a open trailer we stuff 4 bikes on and its a 5x13. He wants a enclosed big enough to be able to fit 4 bikes in and have enough room to have 2 fold down beds in the rear when the bikes are out so you can sleep at races also a v nose cabinet space.

We have found a few decent ones that already have wheel chock setups and one with a cabinet area in v nose. Its a 6x12.

Looking for suggestions on the best size and what you guys who use smaller enclosed trailers have done. Thanks.

I'm selling my 7x16 with AC, cabinets, 2 fold down beds, an RV side door and a ton of extras for $5800 . I'm a bit of a drive from you but it might be worth it. I built it all myself out of a brand new cargo so I know it was all done right.

Regardless, I can fit 4 bikes in here easily.

I have 6x12 and you could fit four bikes but you’d sacrifice a lot of storage space if you want a work bench or cabinets etc. I have work bench and can fit two bikes comfortably and maximum of three. If I was in the market, I’d consider MXD’s trailer. That’s a nice setup and good price

If you want to spend nights in it why not get a lightweight toyhauler ? I saw one the other day that was only 7' wide and 18 feet long, he pulls it with a 1500 and says it's no problem. I think it's this one. Forest River Wolf Pup 17 https://www.rvtrader.com/listing/2019-Forest-River-Cherokee-Wolf-Pup-17…

Boston area. A little more about the trailer, I bought it brand new in 2013. It's a Car Mate Custom Cargo. I ordered it with upgraded 1/2 plywood walls, 2 roof vents, RV side door with a screen. It came standard with LED lights, torsion axles, 1 piece aluminum roof. The trailer was around 6k new. I did a TON to it to make it exactly what I wanted.

I added a deep cycle battery with an inverter and outlet drops in the front and rear
I insulated and reinforced the roof when I installed the AC (pics below)
Comes with a $500 WD hitch

I considered this before I built mine. The reality is, there is no comparison between the durability of a cargo trailer and a toy hauler/travel trailer. A friend of mine's dad owns a franchise RV dealership near me and he told me point blank "these things are rolling piles of glued together sticks. Buy a cargo trailer and throw an air mattress in it". All I've ever done to my cargo trailer is grease the bearings every spring and fall.

I believe a 7x16 is the perfect size. I just bought a 8.5x18 just to have a little xtra room.

I have that toy hauler, but the 2017 model. I bought it new in 2017 for 11,495 out the door. It is extremely easy to pull, even with the tanks full, I agree that the rvs and campers are all made like pieces of shit, but if you take care of it then it will work fine. I was in the same boat looking for an enclosed and saw this. It is very convenient. It has a bathroom, you can haul 3 bikes, and sleep 4.

I had one of those toy hauler type trailers with two queen beds (one from roof and two couches that fold together), four bikes fit in the back, kitchen and shower in the front. Fridge and AC. Towed it with my Dodge 1500. Yeah a bunch of tiny things broke and the generator was trash but it was super fun to have and was 13k brand new. Way better than most hotels close to the tracks.

If you’re just looking for a day trip thing though, a simple enclosed is the way to go.

No one ever said quality is cheap.

Dang! Impressive! I've never seen these before. My trailer is a 7x16, nothing fancy inside because it gets used for a lot of different hauling. So, no custom cabinets, beds....etc. I put in those mx mounts over a year and and so far they've been bullet proof. I'd estimate 700 miles of bike hauling and they do not move at all. Quick and easy to use, fold almost flat when not in use. To each his own, plenty of good ideas and set ups out there.
