I am in the market to buy a new helmet and have done my best to look at all of the helmets safety technology. I kind of narrowed it down to the 6D atr-2 and the Fly Formula. I went and tried both of them on and the fly seemed to fit my head much better. The upper portion of the 6D was tight on my head and a size up was too loose. The Fly Comes with 2 visors also. I think I made my decision to go fly. Is there any reason this is a bad Idea?
Thanks

I currently ride with a Shoei VFX W and 6D ATR2, I will probably pick up a new Shoei EVO since the Shoei seem to fit my melon just a little bit better than the 6D

I tired on the bell and did not like it at all. I think fly is the one for me it felt perfect on the melon and I like the tech.

I know people some people on here will say they're ugly, but Arai is probably the most comfortable helmet ever made. IMO

Maybe for your head type....

There is many different head shapes and virtually impossible to have one helmet that fits every head perfectly. It’s a great thing having at least a half a dozen very good helmets to choose from. 6D should get the credit for starting the movement to get better technology into the helmet biz. Most other companies have stepped up theirs game and are giving us all a safer helmet. Arai has always been known to be a safe helmet, but to my knowledge hasn’t kept up with the others. Personally, the Bell FLEX fits my head shape the best, but I wouldn’t hesitate buying a different brand, if it fit better and I was in the market for one.

Fly formula is a very nice fitting helmet, I have one. Excellent ventilation and light weight.

Sounds good guys thanks for the input. I know fit is a very important factor. I have a shop close to me with all the top brands in stock. I do need to try on the new fox helmet but I think the fly is what I will go with. This is all I really wanted to hear nobody really has a problem with the fly as long as it fits your head well.

Here is some tips, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise or you risk looking like a complete spode. Currently, these are the best helmets on the market:

Fly gear?
Fly helmet
OR
6D, Shoei, Arai, Bell, Airoh, Alpinestar - must have boots as well (no order)

Thor gear?
Thor helmet
OR
6D, Shoei, Arai, Bell, Airoh, Alpinestar - must have boots as well (no order)

Fox or Shift gear?
Fox helmet
OR
6D, Shoei, Arai, Bell, Airoh (no order)

Answer gear?

TLD gear?

Seven gear?

Don't ever buy:
Leatt, HJC, J1, Answer, Zox
unless you do not care about looking like a spode or don't have a brain to save anyways.

Screw this guy right here!! Haha jk but really I don’t give a damn how I look. This is some Keefer shit. I’m not gonna look like a Spode when I have 401k savings instead of dropping a grand on having matching gear to go ride the b class.

Man, that's totally fine if you don't care. The Fly helmet is a top tier helmet.

I’m just bustin your balls a bit but I don’t really have the extra money to get my gear boots and helmet all looking perfect. I get what your sayin tho don’t mix match gear brands if they make the same gear. Thanks all I really care about is not having to have somebody shovel my brain chilli off the track if I wad up. So best safety helmet I can get it is

I asked the Arai guys about the whole "next-generation" safety stuff to reduce rotational impacts and they gave me a well-thought out answer. It was basically this:
Arai has always had a helmet that performed better for rotational impacts thanks to its rounder shape. It's why an Arai doesn't have as many angles or protrusions on the shell. Adding MIPS or something similar wouldn't improve the safety enough to warrant the additional risks involved and they feel that the elastomers may cause pressure points if you hit your head in just the right spot. They may never add such a liner to their helmets. Definitely worth thinking about.

It really depends on head shape so it’s tough to take others recommendations. They being said I was a longtime ARAI wearer and tried on a LEATT at a dealership and thought it felt great. For my head size/shape it is the most comfortable helmet I’ve ever put on. And I’ve been putting them on for over 50 years. Bought it in the spot even though a new helmet was the last thing I needed

I will say, get a helmet that fits PROPERLY!

I thought my head was on the bigger size. Have always worn size Large in helmets. Recently got fitted by the Shoei guys at a demo and realized I am actually a Medium. They added some custom padding and holy crap that VFX-EVO fits perfect compared to the 6D i had.

Any one else out there notice that helmets seem to be shrinking. I have been a “Medium” since I have been 17 years old.
The Bell Moto 9 was the last medium I could wear. The Bell flex I bought a few years back was way too small.
Just bought a new Fox helmet, again in Medium and had to send it back.
I actually returned the helmet based off of how poorly crafted and cheap it felt imo.
So I measure med on all brands helmet chart(s) and I have to order a size large?
Just seems odd...

i don’t like the arai for safety. Not enough eps foam or whatever it’s called. I got knocked out in one of those helmets and took a good look at what i was wearing. Compare the eps of the arai to a troy lee se4 or any of the other top helmets and you will see what i mean. Too thin. Just an opinion from a guy that has a shit ton of different helmet brands (my company buys them for me as “decorations” on my shelf)
