I don’t know how they could possibly make the ROI worth it on that, but hey! That’s awesome!

It's a gamble that anyone will be using the ESR big bore kit. If so, and if that rider wins, I bet Eddie has the payout insured so he's out less than the $30K. Not a bad marketing ploy.

How does that work to "insure the payout"?

Nope, cash in his pocket, he just wants to show how good his products are. He has a new machine that is able to increase production so he also has to increase sales

Many sports do this, just ask Lance Armstrong. That's how he was first called out for perjury.

Well good on him, then.

Mnomis, you can get an insurance policy for just about anything. For instance, "If someone wins my $30,000, I want to insure against that loss. How much would me premium be?" It would likely cost several hundred bucks or more, depending on the likelihood of a qualified rider winning the event. (If everyone in the event has an ESR bike, no dice. But if I'm the only guy riding one, the insurance company wouldn't feel too bad about betting against me.)

It also says that if any fast pro rider is interested that he will provide them with the products. This is not a late notice stunt play thinking nobody will be running it with a shot on short notice. It says that he will be there with product from today on helping people that are interested have a shot at winning the contingency. A very big move to promote their YZ products by a company that is not sitting on the inside of the circle.
