Just wanted to update, ADV has opened up again after being closed for 2 months. They made a (mostly) new track, moved mass amounts of dirt, added a lot of sand, perfect grooming. Track was epic today (Wednesday evening). Yes we have Murphy’s, Spoaks, Cycle Ranch-all good tracks, but this post is for ADV. Check it out for a Wednesday ride, not sure but looks like that will be the consistent day they will be open. Maybe more??

On a side note, are there smooth, singletrack trails on the periphery for high speed mountain biking?

I'd recommend Spoaks SXS or single track course for that.

Wednesday nights at ADV were the highlights of my week for a long time.

Considering that no one showed up to his second track that was “more rider friendly” and all the expense he put into, im not sure if it will ever be open like it was

Miss riding that place!

They opened on a sunday where all others closed and it was awesome

Last 2 weeks its been good on the weekdays too.
Its hard for most the put it in perspective - but its probably the largest night track in the country - located damn close down town austin.

All in all - people are blessed to have it.
Sadly, if things stay the way it is, dennis may quit running it. Took some serious convincing to keep it going, he certainly looses money on it

Loved that place, probably my favorite track in TX. I always tried to go out there anytime they were open to try and help keep it worth their time. Some people just don’t understand the time and effort involved in running a track.

Same goes for ADV, those weekday practices were awesome.

I didn't know it was a lack of riders issue. We drove down from Dallas and had a great time. I thought he stopped opening from other drama. But I'd be first to sign up for any track as long as he preps it well.

well prepped is a difficult subject...on his sand based dirt especially.

Murphy's is the busiest track in the area by far - offering the least prep.

Ultimately murphy's has managed to hit on all notes for the local community all at the same time hitting on zero notes for what any level racer would want to improve or challenge themself.

Red rock was just hard enough even on his GP/Vet track which wasn't that hard, to scare away the murphy type customers.
He put a lot into both those tracks in time and huge money - and couldn't break even for the 3-4 month stint he tried to open nearly every weekend during our "wet months" where water wasn't an issue.
Then to hear complaints from people about it being too hard here or too tough there - when it's was in it's easiest/least tough form had to be hard to handle.

I think the drama of his helper pushed that over the edge to where it wasn't worth it.

I agree - I'd love it back open - but shy of the "for the love of riding" aspect - there is no reason to open it.
ADV nearly closed to the public - and someone gave him the "for the love of riding" speech just enough to keep it afloat again.

Not sure how the text update works but 741-21 is the number to get the latest accurate info for ride days and updates. If you got the time I’d check out the new ADV track, it’s really fun, and I’m very “picky” about tracks, I prefer deep prep with moist loam, inside ruts, good flow, variety of jumps etc. They even made some “hills” in the back section. Like I posted earlier they put a lot of time and effort in, mass dirt moved w sand. Just might be your new favorite track! No disrespect to the other tracks, they are good too, but for a mid week Moto-ADV!

Parking area was dry last Wednesday, track was not muddy at all! Was epic! Get on their text update deal for up to date info.

I don’t think there is any mountain biking but the “new” track is so fun right now I don’t think you’d want to mountain bike around it!!

Exactly! But if we don’t spread the word it may not be an option. I think there are a lot of riders who would love a mid week ride but just don’t know about it.

Anyone know how one gets set up on their phone to receive track text updates for ADV?

I'm still relatively new to the Austin area. I'm narrowing my next bike choice down to a new YZ450 or KX450. What dealer(s) do you locals prefer?

The new track is awesome. Leaps and bounds more variety than Murphy’s which is fun in its own way. Hopefully going to make it out tomorrow.

Wood's will get you with their fees.

Texas Powersports Kawasaki off 290 has less fees than Wood's. If you're willing to make the (~4 hour) drive, Mainland Cycle Center in La Marque also has great deals and not a ton of extra fees.

For those bikes, i would say either Woods or Killeen Powersports. If you are going orange or white, then without a doubt TJ's cycles and even if you don't go Orange or white, I would use them for anything you can. Amazing dealership and customer service. Stay away from Central Texas Powersports in Georgetown. They fucked me out of a few thousand dollars in the service department and no one that works there seems to give a shit.... just my 2 cents

Man, the last two posters have had a huge difference in dealership opinions than my experience. I wouldn't walk a foot into Texas Powersports on 290, and they are literally 5 minutes from my house. Maybe if I was buying a Mule, but not an MX bike. The don't even know how to spell, or pronounce, MX, much less motocross.

TJ's...well, nice people there, I will give them that. But if you are going to buy an orange or white bike, head north and talk to Chip Munn.

Also take it as you will, but I spent $1000 less driving to Dallas to buy my KTM than any dealer in the Austin area.

Thanks for the tips. Wish I could find a dealer to let me buy a crate bike. Skip the setup fees and keep sketchy tech hands off my bike.

Side note, if any central TX peeps are looking for a Husky 350, mine is for sale.

Matt with Red Rock is busy through the MXoN working for ET3. That doesn't leave much time to run a track at home.

Shane Patterson has a brand new KX450 for sale on FB, just a few hours on it and he destroyed his leg, there was a benefit for him 2 weeks ago.

ADVMX is open this Thursday eve, and holding a race Sat. eve.

My boss was at the benefit and bought both the tomac and savatgy signed jerseys. 300 for Joey and a Grand for tomac. Was for a good cause tho and can write it off haha
