Dale’s Superette is not far off 85 over the NC line. Not cheap but they sell 110 Sunoco for a little over $8 per gal.

at 8-9 $ a gallon at the pump for standard 110, i'd just be buying a 5 gallon pale for 50-55$ so you know it wasnt sitting in the ground collecting moisture for who knows how long.

You can buy direct from VP in Commerce GA. Or there is a race shop in Anderson that keeps it in stock. There is nowhere local at a pump that I’m aware of.

I’m just trying to find it cheap. There’s a dealer who sells near me but it’s 70 a can plus tax.

If it is a 2 stroke just buy Avgas 100 Octane for $4.40 a gallon and mix w/ 93 octane pump gas.

There is a app that my buddy has that shows all the airports and real time gas prices.. and we have found that the smaller the airport the easier it is to get gas as we have to drive out by the airplanes. We always joke we should take a pass down the runway???

Up here we can buy it from a local car race track. check your area for local short tracks. They may sell it on raceday. You may have to buy a pit pass though.. or if you know someone in the pits.

https://www.airnav.com/fuel/local.html

enter zip code , check 100LL AVGas.

Find closest station that shows "SS" for self serve. Go turn the pump on, confirm you've grounded your airplane for static, enter a random tail number you make up (or one you can see from where your standing if you feel like it), and dispense. Voila.

What’s the race shop called in anderson and do they carry VP M1 methanol?

Pilot here and avid rider. Just realize that synthetic oils typically have detergents that bind with the lead and can make a real mess out of things like power valves. I’ve seen guys run it in their 4 strokes and when they dump their oil it looks like mildly thinned JB weld. Also, you think carbon deposits are bad on a piston in a smoker… add lead to the equation and watch what happens. Just put a new top end/overhaul in my bird and it was amazing how much lead was built up on the piston, valves and valve guides. A friend of mine ran it in his 300xc TPI and the bike ran terribly.

also I know the guys were kidding about running down the runway but definitely don’t do that… not only will you never be allowed to buy gas there and probably get a call from the FAA if seen, you never know if a plane is coming in and forgot to turn on their NAV lights. This actually happened at a local airport with a local guy with 3 moto jugs in the back of his truck.

also, just type in “n” and 11111 in the fuel dispenser so that the airport can get an accurate read on who is buying how much gas. They run on super thin margins so if they see a lot of non pilots buying fuel it helps some airports market outside the airport crowd. The more fuel sold, the more they try to lower prices so they are very happy to sell outside of the pilots.

just for giggles, here is one of the jugs off my bird… you think a 450 is big… there are 6 of those on my plane.  520ci

One more thing… GL100UL was just approved by the FAA for all piston aircraft. The EPA has set a deadline of 2030 for aviation to be completely done with low lead gas. There are several others that are in final approval with the FAA. GL100UL has actually proven to be superior to 100LL in all applications. The beauty is we will be able to run it in our bikes with synthetic oils without issue. We pilots are excited to be able to run synthetic oil in our birds to get the CHTs down and extend the life of our ridiculously expensive 70 year old technology certified engines.
