Hello all, as the summer heat and bugs are just around the corner, I'm looking to see what kind of tips/tricks/products y'all use to help keep the family or riding crew nice and comfortable while in the elements.

What pop up tents/EZ ups do you use? All the ones I've ever used felt flimsy and broke.

Any battery powered fans/mist sprayers that you've found to be useful?

I've been thinking about this as well - basically trying to brainstorm the ultimate pit setup based under an EZ-UP, so NOT attached to an RV or anything. I remember seeing a mist sprayer in an Alta video which he was using to keep the batteries cool while charging; I believe he said it could be purchased from Home Depot. I also am thinking of what types of lighting could be rigged up, and or if it would be an advantage to have walls made for the tent.

Ez up. Lounge chairs. Like the full body fold up recliners. Fold up table. Carpets. If you don’t have carpets just plan on having gnats and bugs piss everyone off. And For sure need Tunes. Fan. Ultra quiet generator. As long as you got air moving probably don’t need a mister. Just get a spray bottle if it’s that hot and spray yourself periodically in front of the fan

Some friends of mine and I brought a kiddie pool with us to the World Mini one year. We had all kinds of visitors at our pit the whole weekend. It worked!

Yea because they hangout in the grass. Put down a large carpet area and they’re not crawling all over your legs. There still gonna be bugs but not an antagonizong amount. Carpet and fan combo you won’t be swatting around your head. The pit next to you might be.

Try it next time. With and without. You’ll see!!

My wife came up with the idea of putting the EZ Up over the bed of my truck, laying blankets down and putting the tail gate up. She can sit in a chain and watch while the kids play with their toys.

Get a trash can big enough to sink your body into. Fill it with ice. Best thing in the world.

Couple things I do to keep cool in the summer AZ riding conditions.

1) I bring an extra cooler big enough for my helmet and a bag of ice. Between sessions, I put the helmet in the cooler to cool it down for when I put it back on its nice and cool.

2) EZ up, small generator (Yamaha 1000i inverter) and a box fan. Hang out in front of the fan in the shade between sessions.

3) Cooling towels on ice

4) Pre-hydrate the day before like a MOFO and drink lots of water during ride day to stay hydrated.

The best thing I ever did 20 years ago was I found an old squirrel cage/exhaust fan from an old AC blower in some construction garbage. Can get one anywhere. Wired a plug on it and it blows really powerful. Then we throw ice in it in the cylinder fan and it mists cold air and ice flakes for ever. Bonus is it blows so hard it also keeps bug away. Still use it to this day riding, camping, dive trips sleeping on beaches. People in my pits for years just for it. I even put chicken wire over the openings so no kids put thier hands in it. Good times.

I end up putting a large blue tarp down and peg it down. Works well and easier to clean than carpet.

Class A pusher, cold beer.
Texas can get ugly hot and usually once every few years someone dies from it.

Go to lowes or home depot and get a 10x20 piece of astroturf for under $100. Stake it down, rinse it off in the driveway when you get home. Weighs a quarter of what carpet weighs and lasts forever

This sounds cool, but I can’t visualize it. Can you upload a photo please? I wanna get one of these for the summer.
Cheers

You’re not kidding about those squirrel cages, it’ll blow the bike off the stand lol. We never did the chicken wire thing but they can be dangerous if people don’t pay attention.
