Even after scraping off the vulcanized grip, you still end up with a wavy throttle tube. Never again! I’m going aluminum right away next time. Less chance of it breaking in a race too. Win/win.

Have you guys noticed excessive chain noise with your 19 KX450.
Every time someone rides my bike they think something is wrong with it by the noise it makes.
I know what they are hearing is the chain because I can hear it.
I just put on a new non-oring chain and sprockets (stock gearing) acerbis chain guide and it seems even louder.
Yes I checked the chain slider, tm designs lower chain roller, and top roller and they are in good condition.
Bike has 19 hours.
Any advise or suggestions?

Are you sure it’s not the clutch? They have a whine to them when they get hot due to lack of oil flow. I thought it was a drive noise at first on my ‘16 and have heard it’s not any better on the ‘19. Adding a little oil helps otherwise there is info out there about modifying the push rod I believe to allow more oil flow. The noise is nothing to worry about, but can be annoying. If you already knew about that, disregard this post!

Thanks for the reply, I'm positive it's the drive chain. I can hear it on the stand by spinning the rear wheel.
I've owned all brands and this one is the noisiest by far.
And is really noticeable in the air off throttle?

I only run stock because of the noise of the TM product. Plus it only lasts longer because it’s so thick. Just don’t like it.

Great way to go instead of aluminum tubes or cleaning the vulcanized grip off OE units:

Mine was good. At about 10 hrs i put on a tm lower chain roller and thats when i started hearing the noise. I know the tm stuff lasts forever but it sounds awful.

Now that you mention it, I didn't notice it until after I installed the tm Lower roller. My stock roller was toast at 6 hours!

Yes mate I have noticed this myself a couple times riding back to the pits after racing.
And it’s not your clutch whining that is a hole different noise again ?I’ve also experienced but have been told not to worry kinda hard when ya hear the noises.Someone reckons to add 50-100mm more oil and I done that last oil change and haven’t heard it again as for the chain noise I have no answer it is a lot louder tho than previous Kawasaki bikes I’ve owned

I went with a aluminum throttle tube with a bearing, throwing the OEM tube in the spare parts drawer not even going to attempt to get the grip off lol

just get a set of Emig or ODI grips that come with the throttle tube, $25. You'll never go back.

Just got my graphics on from Throttle Syndicate. Super inpresed and happy with them! Typically the OE oil amount from Kawi is too much - causes aeration. Some of the factory teams were running 100cc less oil than recommended.

As far as throttle tubes to the other guys, just buy the cheapo aluminum tube with ball bearing from rocky mountain, the tusk brand. Works just fine. I buy one for every new kx I buy. Throw the OE tube + grip in the spare parts bin. The clutch side grip came off easier on my 19 than it did on my 16 / 13 / 11..

Yeah that's what I did ordered a tusk throttle tube put the OEM tube up for hard times

I recently put the full TM setup on my bike and noticed way louder chain noise. I have heard the lower roller off the kx250 fits and has better bearings. Maybe worth a try?

I've had them and went back. Too thick IMO. I like Renthal full diamond which are quite thin.

Use the ‘18 roller. The threads don’t quite reach the lock part of the nut, but it works fine.
